Anyone have an idea, suggestion, or similar experience with the DXScript window not appearing when clicking on the "New" button correlating to the script function when you create a new object in DestTopX? I installed DestTopX and DeskTopX Pro and was going through David Roman's tutorial. At the scripting section, the DXScript window won't appear, though after hitting "New" the other buttons appropriately change to "Remove" and "Edit". The Remove button causes an appropriate reset but hitting the Edit button or the Apply button at the bottom causes DeskTopX Builder to shut down. Am running Windows 7 Ultimate and I wonder if this is some kind of conflict perhaps due to updates???
This is a basic DeskTopX function and I am not noting any other problems, just this isolated glitch. I keep tinkering, but so far no revelations. Any sphinx riddle solvers out there?
What version of DX did you install? The current beta has been problematic.
DX 4 is what I have installed and that seems to be a problem I notice in browsing posts...perhaps I should install DX 3.5 instead? Is 3.5 still available to install from somewhere?
I would PM Zubaz or e-mail support, or both. Good luck.
Gotcha....thanks Wizard...you have a great holiday..
You're welcome and the same to you. Happy Holidays.
I am running DX Pro 3.96 and it runs fine. Win7 64 bit.
Redneck....I need to submit an update here after more tinkering.......I downloaded and installed the beta versions of DeskTopX regular and pro, installed them in order and now things are running fine. I guess someone at the R&D department was paying attention. So I'm in sync with your comment. Windows7 Ultimate 32bit on laptop and Vista Home Premium 64bit on desktop.
Redneck---thanks for all your hard work and contributions---I've used your stuff many times and you are definitely a credit to inbreeding!!!
Seriously, you have great holidays....hope you continue and improve your creative contributions.
I've had that same issue but only with v4.00xxxxxxxx. v3.96 which is the newest beta seems ok.
Another observation---now that DeskTopX is up and running properly, there is still a minor glitch I'm noticing---Object Bar malfunctions and has to be unloaded and reloaded. This seems to be reproducible.
Now that's funny right there, I don't care who you are.
I don't think ObjectBar is supported anymore. Have you looked at Tiles?
Since this is resolved for Hobodoc I need to ask Support...just how do I get 3.96, beta or otherwise?
The store download for the Full Program gives me 3.50 and the one for the Beta gives me 4.xx. This is the ODNT version, not pro. I need to be on the same version as Jim for testing purposes.
I now have no version installed awaiting a reply.
TIA.
On a related note, how about an actual version number in the info for the exe. The File version of 9.0.2.0 means nothing to me. Why does it not show the same number as in the store link which is ?
As you can see, it's says 3.96 but that isn't what I get.
Wizz---the best I can tell you, as a tinkerer, is to download both beta DX reg and beta DX pro, install reg first, then pro----you should be prompted to restart computer and then things should be good to go....
correction------objectdock not objectbar
Bump, I'm still confused. What is the current version that should be available on my Account page under Full Install? It downloads 3.50.xx
and what is the Full Beta version number? It downloads 4.xx.xx.
I didn't write down the exact numbers, but both have been uninstalled......
which brings me back to my original question: how do I get 3.96, beta or otherwise?
It shows 3.96.0 as available. (see reply #12)
Can someone look into this for me ,hopefully before the weekend? Thanks in advance.
Help, quick, RnD is down to one tester-cle!
My aplogies to Hobodoc for the highjack. Did your ObjectDock problem correct itself? If not, you may want to make another post about it in the OD support forum so it will get noticed.
Wizz---remember something, grasshoppa....being a desktop tinkerer means NEVER having to say yer sorry......[eh, i'm sure there's an exception somewhere, just can't get a vibe what it is right now...]
Having cleared that bit of epistemological etiquette......the objectdock problem is still something I am watching to see if it's going to continue. Right now I'm just elated that I seem to have a foothold on a rudimentary understanding of VB script, thanks to Dave Roman, although I don't have much interest in the WMI section---just seems too cerebral for now.
I don't see any version listed for the desktopX betas----just 3.96.0 for the regular and 3.50.18 for the pro.
Just try the betas and see what happens---[besides, you can trust me, i'm a doc]
Anybody? I just need to know what version I should be getting, 3.50 or 3.96.
At the moment, I have no DX. I need the SAME version Jim is on to be able to properly test for him. I uninstalled through Impulse/Gamestop to move to the store downloads system instead and I now have nothing until I get this info.
Interesting. The info is different for DX Pro (3.50.18). Plus the install/beta buttons are flipped. Can't find version info anywhere for the beta (unless I have to install it first, but I'm not going to do that, yet.) The installer for DX Pro 'full install' says 4.00.017.
Thank you Zubaz. Since I had little to lose by trying again, I did so. This time the store beta download gave me 3.96 instead of 4.xx
As Sergeant Preston would say "This case is closed"
Can we please fix this, so I can archive the best known version? Please. If I can still get it through Impulse, there has to be a copy somewhere...please guys.
Hi Eve...Happy Birthday
Hey, Jim.
I'm confused. You're on 3.96 (Pro) and you got it from Impulse, not the Stardock store?
No, Eve. I have 3.96 Pro on my lappy, from the store.
I have 3.5 Pro, from Impulse, on my main rig.
3.5 Pro will not leave my main rig until a stable release of the next working version comes to fruition. (And I verify that it is truly stable.)
