So somewhere between the program exe (which I am assuming is a Visual basic file) and the Windows 7 registry is a, Run-time error '13': Type mismatch.
Any suggestions to fix or can someone with a working resizer just resize a single small file for me? The file is here and I need it sized down to about 15% of it's current size.
Thanks in advance.
Yeah that tool is way out of date. Even the meshes have been modified and redone since this tool was created.
I don't know if that's the same resize tool I use but after downloading some missing library or another it works like a charm with windows 7.
That's the MSCOMCTL.OCX dll that needs to be put in the system files and registered with the OS. I've done that and run as administrator and still get the error.
Grrr...so take two minutes and gets me file!
Pweeeeease.
This is an original file from vanilla Sins so it should be easy.
Well after checking again seems that's not quite the runtime error I got. Is this (resize.exe) the tool you are trying to use?
Yep--that is the evil beast.
I stabbed it with my steely knife but I just can't kill it.
I have a working version (Mesh 'Resize' (c)Newboerg Version 0.85). I have a bunch of dlls in the directory along with the tool but they could also be for the convert.exes for Sins itself. I tried removing them all to a different directory to see which one might be the trick but it didn't seem to matter. I must have registered it or put in one of the system directories. I know that's not really helpful but at least you know it's possible to have a working resizer in Windows 7?
It's late now, but if I have time tomorrow I might just grab the file for you and resize it myself.

I'd be happy if anyone with a working resizer replying on this thread would resize the linked file for me. I'll be there. This is a small file. It will take less than a minute to do it.
*hint *hint
I also have Particle Forge issues on this comp. Both of these things worked fine for me in XP.
Here you go, Sinperium. This one works on Win7 64 bit for me, tool only needs the exe itself, though it was placed in a modding /Mesh dir; NovaCameron got this thing working.
Not working on my 64bit Win 7 or 32 bit XP Pro.
In addition, that download service you use creates their own exe named the same as yours containing their adware and adds it to your exe and tries to force an install of their software first.
Can someone just...reduce the mesh to 15% of its current size please?
Wow... Now that's odd...
I went to resize that mesh for you and I get a runtime error too. I know the tool works because I tried it last night while I was replying to this thread. It's something with that particular model.
Try the tool with something else and see if it works for you Sinperium.
Just took another look to see if it was because the mesh was in binary or something. It is in text just like the other mesh I re-tested after my last post.
The file structure is kind of messed up though. It's missing all the line breaks.
Oddly enough, it looks like what happens when I try to paste the txt data from a model into this post window. Did you happen to copy the raw info off of a web posting somewhere and recreate the file yourself?
I got the file from Zombie's "Sins of the the Fallen" mod--specifically, from
Sins of the Fallen R5
It's the StarbaseRelicArtifact (in the Artifacts directory of the download) and according to Zombie it's an unused Planet Artifact model included in the original game (I have no idea which one).
I haven't changed anything other than the name for it in the one I posted.
I moved the resize exe to the same folder and get a different error than before but unfortunately, still an error--"Runtime Error 62--Input past end of file".
It creates a resized mesh but it is corrupt and minidumps the game.
I did the "Jolly Roger" from DS which is a larger cap ship model and it works there--sorta--looks like the program times out or hands. Either that ot it's incredibly slow.
All this because I just wanted a scout sized box. No wonder modding in this game drives me bonkers sometimes.
Still no cargo box.
I've never had speed issues with the one I'm using. It's rather quick actually. I do have to close it and re-open the program after each resize though. I just view as a quick to a homemade tool which otherwise has worked perfectly every time I've used it.
As for the file, it could be repaired I'm sure but it would likely take some work. I'm not sure if it's just because the line breaks are missing or if it's something else. It's hard to tell when it's a big jumbled mess. "Input past end of file" sounds like there might be a data array with entries past it's length variable or something (IE 100 points specified but 105 actual records) or possibly even something as simple as a blank line before the end of the file.
If there is an automated way to get things back into the usual (and much easier to read) one entry per line format, it would be easier to find the problem. Unfortunately, you may be looking at a by hand job for both tasks.
I will design my own cargo array and beg for help to have it made into a mesh. Begging...it's a skill.
Lol
If it doesn't have any weapons or engines on it I can rig up whatever you need; just send it to me in .3ds, .max, or preferably, .obj.
No prob. Needs no hard points or engines or particles of any kind--will be a stationary object for pre-placement on maps.
You da man Lavo. I'll send you my model asap as an obj
Yay.
Here's a pic of the cargo pod array objective object:
The begging continues.
