Another RTS campaign to get my hands on:
StarCraft 2 is just getting weirder and weirder as it develops.
Worth noting that a lot of weird unit prototypes were unveiled prior to SC2's original beta that didn't make the final release (anyone remember the lame "Soul Hunter" that rode a hoover-board and shot electricity out of his hand?)
Not only that, but many of these units may end up being campaign-only. I'd really only give any of these units a 25% chance of actually being available in online multiplayer.
I just want them to release the third game soon so that we can get back walking firebats and medics etc into multiplayer. '
I don't have StarCraft 2, but from what I have seen, in general, I like the new units and structures in Wings of Liberty, like the Baneling, the Colossus, the Immortal, the Marauder, the Orbital Command, the Perdition Turret, the Planetary Fortress, the Reactor, the Reaper, the Roach, the Stalker, the Tech Lab, and the Tech Reactor. For example, the story of the Baneling from Broken Wide is excellent.
However, I don't like the way the Zerg got turned around, and the removal of things like the Lurker, the Dark Archon, and the Firebat and the Medic from multiplayer. The Lurker was doomed when it ended up in tier 3, because of the Roach and Hydralisk situation, and there isn't much of a role overlap between the Baneling, the Roach, and the Lurker. I really want a lore explanation that is more substantial than Ulrezaj being the last Dark Archon by the end of the Brood War from the Dark Templar Saga, because it makes no sense as far as I am concerned. I guess that if I could get Wings of Liberty, it would probably be for the campaign.
There is a map setting you can use to get the other units from the campaign available in multiplayer, I guess I would just like to see them fully added back in when they get the third game up and running. That would be incredibly nice.
What makes me not want to buy this game is the fact that one of my favorite characters is not coming back and the fact a character I absolutely cannot stand is the zerg leader. Thats right I want the overmind to come back and that filthy kerrigan to be killed off.
lol
You're probably better waiting for the Legay of the Void final expansion.
Keep in mind the end game cinematic was leaked some time ago and to put it lightly the story is not a 10/10.
when will be this game released ? i have sc2
I have been seriously considering waiting to get StarCraft II in its entirety instead of separately, ever since I learned that it would be a trilogy.
Zeta ... it's not all that bad of an idea. Trust me.
Its what I am doing as well. SC is an interesting game but not that good. IMHO.
Unless you're really into this kind of RTS, that's probably the best course of action.
If this game had come from a smaller or newer developer I'd be praising it unconditionally right now. But Blizzard has a reputation and resource pool that raises those expectations substantially, and I really feel they just barely cleared the hurdle with Starcraft 2. I will tell you that at this point in Warcraft III's lifespan I was hooked and playing nothing else, but I've more or less stopped playing Starcraft 2 altogether now.
And it doesn't help that I really need a new computer in order to be able to play StarCraft 2 in the first place.
I have never particularly liked the need to scale production by building loads of production buildings, two infantry production buildings is often a standard opener, and as many as four or more production buildings of each type is often the norm by the late game, for the Terrans and Protoss. This is in contrast to something like Command & Conquer, which is just as equally fast paced, but no more than two of each production building, save airbases because they support a limited number of aircraft, is the most that are ever built.
Agreed ... Starcraft I at this point was still addictive. SC2 really ... isn't.
