I'm sick of these threads...
I just checked my e-mail account to see when I pre-ordered Rebellion. I have been waiting for 7 months now. I dont know why everyone seems to be in a uproar over when it is coming out, or whats going to be wrong with it. Calm down, Sit back and twiddle your thumbs. It will come out when the Developers think it is ready, Please.
Soon?
dude. I've been waiting on The Old Republic for years. When they originally launched Galaxies, I said "they should make the setting in the Old Republic era. Thousands of Sith and Jedi. No timeline to dance around."
And actually, I was waiting on Galaxies back in the day. Wasnt able to be there on launch day due to the fact that my area didnt have the new-fangled 'DSL' stuff yet . Yet, somehow, much of my college class time was spent reading forum posts on the game anyhow.
I was asking because i would like to preorder rebellion, the thing is just that i cant find it at the impulse (gamestop) client. it's strange to me that it is not there since impulse was a thing created by stardock (am i right there?) and now it seems theres not really a good connection between those two things anymore. and i think its not too hard if you work on a project to say 'it should be ready for launch around the first quarter of 2012 or something like that... but maybe i should wait till it is out, after the desaster with elemetal i dont know what to think of stardock anymore, and 40 bucks for an expansion seems pretty dear to me.

For everyone's info: Stardock and what was formerly Impulse are not owned by the same company. Former Impulse (now the Gamestop PC Download Store) is owned by Gamestop and the accounts are separate. GPCDS doesn't offer Rebellion. The only way to get it currently is by pre-ordering directly from Stardock. As I pointed out previously, if someone is have a Rebellion pre-order issue, they need to either email support@stardock.com or sales@stardock.com.
Especially for those who've already paid for Sins and the two expansions like most of the regulars. I agree.
According to the product page when you pre-order Rebellion, the release date is December 1st.

And if that's the case that means they'll probably need to release the beta VERY soon if they want to have enough time to fix bugs and implement suggestions from the beta testers.
Thanks, that is pretty much what i was asking for.
Yeah it would be nice to get some sort of update on how things are progressing. Even a simple things have been delayed by a few months or it looks like the beta will be out in the next few months would help.
The beta will most likely be released in early or mid november...
Seriously? That's only 2 or 3 weeks away.
I dunno if that's enough time for the devs to fix the bugs found by the players playing the beta... but the release date's their decision.
I don't buy it.
I buy what the devs say. I'll need to hear it from them to believe it.
Or see it.
Well since the release date is scheduled for the first of december I can only assume the beta will be released about 2 - 3 weeks before the official release date, if the dev's still want to receive some feedback that is... So the most likely period for the beta to be released is early to mid november, correct me if I'm wrong.
2-3 weeks is not enough time to beta test. I would buy a release date 2-3 weeks after beta concludes. And don't forget, we've barely seen anything on this game yet. If they were planning on a november beta, there would be enough stuff finalized at this point that there would be screens and information.
Besides... November/December doesnt work for me. I have Arkham City for November and The Old Repbulic in December.
Also, the next 2 months will be filled with games. I KNOW that an RPG can't be compared with a 4X game, but 60 dollars look like 60 dollars whatever you buy.
With Elder Scrolls 5, The Old Republic, Arkham City, Sword of the Stars 2 and Anno 2070 we already have a plethora of games that will require loads of hours to be completed, which means that people won't feel the need to buy something new AND won't have the budget available.
I would fear a release date near the beginning of december, because Sins would be easily forgotten among those beasts.
On the other hand, though, there's X3-Rebirth right around the corner, and that's another huge competitor in this field.
Thank God I'm not the poor soul who must decide Rebellion's release date.
A strategic time for Rebellion's release would be around the time the original Sins was released--February or March when it's easier to make a splash and stand out.
Actually, Sword of the Stars II release date is October 28, 2011. And Impulse is one of many download retailers which will offer the game.
Err... I know that SotS2 will be released in a couple of days. I'm speaking of X3-Rebirth, and even though it's not an RTS, it stands more clearly in the way of Rebellion than Skyrim or others because it is still about starships, open environments and economy (although it's obviously NOT in the same field of SoaSE).
SotS2 comes out way too early and, imho, has its own separate fanbase. It is still a worthy opponent, though, because it's the same kind of game as SoaSE.
That's why I say that, even though X3 is still some months away(and is a slightly different genre) and SotS2 comes out so early, they will be among the biggest rivals for SoaSE-Rebellion.
p.s.: I must admit I didn't really understand your mention of Impulse.
Last time I did the rounds, X Rebirth is expected in this last quarter of this year, between now and Dec 31. SOTS 2 10-28-11, and now Rebellion 12-01-11.
As far the mention of Impulse, some of the players downloaded the game from Impulse because it's what they know, and since it's release in 2008, we now have the ability to get the game in the most fastest way possible versus going to Target and buying it like me.
On the matter of X-rebirth, my bad: I have the Nintendo-time ingrained in my mind, and for me Q4/2011 instantly meant Q4/2011[financial year], i.e. an optimistic january/february launch. That's why I thought it could be more of a problem because people could decide to keep their money in order to have something to play during those months, aftertheChristmas release rush. If it is released so early, it's probably not that much of a threat, because it, too, has mostly a strong fanbase, and I don't believe its developers count that much on the "new entries".
I still don't understand your point with Impulse: the factthat a digital copy is accessible doesn't make it free. People will still have to decide what to buy, especially now with this economy.
About rebellion: you made up that 11/12 or it's finally confirmed?
Well, I didn't say it was gonna be free either. Basically, what I'm saying is that other than the one screenshot posted on Facebook, we haven't seen anything else. While we continue to wait, other RTS games are coming now so the choice is to continue and wait or choose between the the other two franchise which do and have posted in game screen shots and has a presence in the last couple of trade shows like E3.....
Oh, ok. I always checked the front page and it still said Coming Soon.
I'm wondering if 1/12 is a placeholder or the devs actually let the date slip without noticing.
Says 2012 now.
