I wasn't sure where to post this, hope I'm not in the wrong place.
Can anyone tell if and how I can disable, CursorFX please?
I don't want to uninstall it yet but I'm trying to find the reason for a suddenly problem which only started after I installed this and WindowBlinds.
I'm truly crossing my fingers its not one of them.
Thank you.
Select "Regular" cursor in CFX....
Thank you!!!!
So simple, and I was looking for an atual 'disable' button
If you'll go into more detail with the problem, perhaps someone can help you with it.
Well, I have a new laptop that was working fine but after installing windowblinds and cursorfx I noticed a problem.
If it was idle, turned on/top shut, for a period of time, when I open it it would show the locked screen then go to the desktop, sometimes showing TWO pointers, then nothing. It would not respond and I would have to force it to shut down.
I have now put the default cursors back and tested it, seems to work fine.
The cursor set I was using in cursorfx was called Hand.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think that "Hand" cursor was made for CursorXP. I don't know if that is causing the problem you are experiencing, but it may be worth downloading a newer cursor from the gallery here and seeing if you have the same problem. CursorFX is usually quite problem free, and tends to play nice on most systems. Don't give up on it yet.
Let us know how you get on, we can probably help you fix the problem eventually.
Hmmmm I was wrong. "Hand" IS a cursorFX theme, it must have been updated. I still think you should try another one though, just to be sure.
That is what I'm going to do now. I first needed to see if it had anything at all to do with CursorFX.
I've loaded Goldenwood and now have to let my laptop sit idle for about an hour and see what happens.
It comes with CFX but the theme info says it was copyrighted in 2001 by RiccioSoft.
I suspect it's an "old hand" at being a cursor.
I'm replying on my Mac to let my laptop idle for a while. I used to use Hand on my PC, more than 4 years ago. It was always a favourite, but I wondered if it's age might be the cause of this problem. I'll leave a message as to how the present set works. I'll be very happy if I can continue using CursorFX.
If you go to the settings tab you can disable th cursor by clicking on the button will open a dialog box that allows you to change the hot key combination that disables/enables CursorFX. A hot key is a unique combination of keys, when pressed at the same time will perform a task. In this case, if you ever want to turn your cursor theme off without opening CursorFX, the shortcut way is to use this hot key. Pressing the hot key again, will re-enable your cursor theme.
The default hot key combination requires you to press these keys (at the same time): <Ctrl> and <Shift> and the letter <C>. The <Ctrl> maybe labeled <Control> on your keyboard. If you have other applications that use <Ctrl> & <Shift> & <C>, you can change the combination on this screen or you can turn it off (None).
Thanks Zubaz, I had forgetten about that feature. I have to disable CFX temporarily once in awhile.
Well, unfortunately with Goldenwood I had the same problem.
I'm going to try leaving it idle again for a while with the default cursors.
No idea what that means.
Whatever is going on. it's neither CFX nor WB doing it......
I described it as idle meaning it was turned on but closed, lid shut. I'm not sure how else to put it.
You may be right that its not CursorFX but it didn't do it the one time I reset to the default.
"Sleep mode" perhaps?
Tested it again with default cursors this morning and it was fine. I'm disappointed, looks like I have to uninstall CursorFX.
Just a wild shot here. Is it an Acer, or some other brand that comes with it's own "security" apps? Acer security played hell with ObjectDock installs. Perhaps there is something interfering with a clean install.
My laptop is an HP Pavilion G series.
I don't have a problem with CFX at all but this info has solved a mystery that has bugged me for 2 years! The hot key combo Ctr+Shift+C is a one that I used in Photoshop (copy merged). It suddenly stopped working and I assumed that it must be conflict with something, but never knew until now what it was. Incidentally, I never noticed that it turned off CFX, but that may have been related to it sharing the same combo with PS.
Anyway, I can now use my PS hot key again, and I thankee big, Zu!
Now, back on topic....sorry
I have had to give up and unistall CursorFX [e digicons]:'([/e]
