Wow guys, cheese aliens. I guess anything is possible.
Well, before this thread runs into a ditch. I have to say I'm proud for those of you who to take the time and read, as well as post on this thread. Everyone has a opinion regardless if they believe or disbelieve, Either prospect is frighting when you think about, in this universe we may be the only ones out here, or not. I am not going to knock someone for what they believe in. Aeligos, you and Whiskey obviously believe what you think is right and that is good.
I like to know everyone's take on the vids and what if? Aeligos believes our governments are conditioning us to either believe or disbelieve in extraterrestrials. And he believes that our world leaders will discredit anyone as loony or crazy or on the fringe of everyone's else clear thinking. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. For all we know we maybe the aliens, meaning we came from somewhere else and we were transported here by an advance species who we called gods.
In this next vid I'm gonna post is from the move "Knowing". Some of you may have seen it, some not but at the end is very powerful imagery to illustrate my point.
Now if you watched the entire video you know that Earth,(SPOILERS) was destroyed by the solar flare. The aliens took the children of man and settled on a new world. Now before you say, "that's Hollyood", yes I know but really think about what was being said.
In the bible it is written that the angels from the heavens will descend to Earth and take the chosen few while god will cleanse the Earth with fire, please forgive if it's not the literal quote, but you get the ideal.
Earlier I mentioned about UFO's in the bible in the book of Genesis Ezekiel. They were described as a wheel in a wheel. Now some of you are going to quite literally see two Goodyears spinning inside one another. Remember, they did not have all those fancy words we have now, so a sheep farmer or a peasant from over 2000 years ago will see a starcraft and say it was a wheel in a wheel like in the movie.
The aliens were glowing with a brilliance what look like wings behind them. They called them angels in the past. I'm not trying to say what you are thinking, but it may be a possibility, just like aliens made of cheese.
And my next point about forgotten technology, how did one man create the Coral Castle while we have difficulty now on moving solid pieces of Granite or Limestone like the ancients did. Here's a link to the Coral castle.
Now one man may have figured it out, which is good. But how did the other civilizations like the Aztecs, Mayans, Incas do it as well. As far as I know, the Egyptians did not make it to this side of the planet. Unless, someone or being was providing this information to all who could understand. They could have been from Atlantis.
And before you ask, yes I do believe in God. But I do keep an open mind about some things especially that are beyond my scope and understanding. And for those of you who watch Supernatural, Castiel said, "you humans got more wrong than right in the bible."

very good points Bison, i am a christian, but i do not think that alien life is out of the question. just as the isrealites are God's chosen poeple, humanity could be God's chosen race.

another thing i would like to say is that if angels do turn out to be aliens, that would not completely discount the bible. as, after all, anything not of this earth would be considered "alien".
Knowing is actually a rip off of Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke. It is one of the best scifi books of all time. The movie was ok (I do like Cage), but the book is far better.
There are many examples in Science Fiction Literature of Aliens helping man even against his will. Not all SciFi is "Battlestar Galitica" or "independence Day". The Original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (the remake is trash), while not being a rosy movie, definitely was one where the aliens were trying to help man.
Aliens, religion, science, etc. doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. There's a way almost everything can have at least some truth to it. A pity that people tend toward one extreme or another rather than uniting to eat the cheese aliens.

I didn't know that Knowing is a ripoff of Childhood's End. Definitely not going to be seeing it then, as Childhood's End is rather depressing IMO.
Flipside is that quite a few of Clarke's books have a bit of a depressing ending for me. Meh, what can ya do.

It can be, but then the despair of the aliens in that book indicated they were the ones that were depressed (they could never achieve what mankind did). I guess it is in the way you view the book. I can see both sides - as hope for something greater for man, and as despair of the end of mankind.

All religions of the world have been corrupted and influenced by the sun worshippers. For this reason, we live in ways that were not intended for us -- as slaves. Man was never to be governed by man. And yet, at man's command, we alone determine the lives that are to be taken & the lives that are to be spared -- all for the "necessary" economic balance.
In the coming decade, we will see a massive global influence to further manipulate the masses into a one world order (geopolitical manipulations, manipulated weather patterns, food shortages, global currency). The Jesuit order seeks to enact [a false] universal enlightenment --mimicking divinely delivered intentions-- to please the returning Ra factions from above. To show them our loyalty, the Sun worshippers have covered most of the "Western" world with monuments honoring the returning faction.
The Eastern hemisphere will eventually enter a massive war in defiance of the West's (Rome/US/UK/Israel) religious convictions. Many will die. The point is mostly to depopulate the planet, but it is also intended to force the sun worshipping religion onto other nations. This is when the world leader/s and world religion will announce to the world that the gods will be returning. A new beginning will be promised by the world manipulators. And many will be believe anew again.
Those that survive the great war will face yet another event -- only the event will be much worse than the war because the world priests will have failed to convince the returning faction that we are in universal harmony...as was intended for us. As a result, the returning faction (which are truly our saviors; ie creators/ seeders) will reset this world, destroying us in the process.
Preparation for our future defense is in process. One major preparatory function is to achieve global unity which is now being orchestrated (eg global instability, begetting war, begetting depopulation; thence the global agenda for a mock babylon; false unity). The ultimate preparation is to fight against the returning faction (ie, to fight against the gods). Our worldly rulers think they can out-match our creators by reverse engineering "alien" technology, but their efforts will all be in vain.
We have been warned. But most will not see truth. Instead we see material security as being the thing worth living for, and 'eternal' salvation the thing worth dying for. The truth, however, is that death is an illusion.....because duality is an illusion. There is only life, but don't leave it up to the world theists (or secular institutions) to admit that because they need your undivided attention.

I echo FredLed's question. Seriously aeligos, either you're an ass, an idiot, or are high. Because I see no corruption by sun worshippers in Christianity of any kind.
I also fail to see how the view from above of the Vatican indicates that so-called sun worshippers are trying to make the aliens see that we are loyal.
Though I have to add something to my list of what you might be: a Stargate fanatic. As this whole thing you're spouting off about really points to the possibility that you saw the Stargate movie and TV series and decided 'that is so true!'.

I believe.
I believe in the existence of imaginative people that play pranks.I believe in the gullibility of man.I believe in the power of delusions.
However, I do believe there's intelligent life out there. Assuming the universe is unlimited, that is virtually a certainty, but the odds of that life being able to reach or find us, or vice versa, is astronomical, and within our lifetimes, an order of magnitude less. So I don't see it making a difference.
I do see Whiskeys' point about intelligent life trying to stay out of harms' way, but unlike him I do suspect there is room for an exchange of ideas or even technology for mutual benefit.
It's not that I don't believe that there's no room for exchange of ideas or technology for mutual benefit, or even that such an exchange is impossible, it's just that, well, aliens are alien. If anything, I'd say something like the premise of the book Ender's Game would be pretty plausible:

As an example, the archetypal 'hive mind' aliens might think on a time-scale much longer than humans do. That is to say, by human standards it could take weeks for a hive mind to form the equivalent of 'hello, how are you'.
So really, I'd say that my stance is that such an exchange would take a long time and be very difficult, mostly due to language barriers and completely different cultural backgrounds. It probably wouldn't be insurmountable (any species that can easily travel through space is pretty smart and able to do things that we might consider 'insurmountable'), but it would be pretty hard.

Unfortunately, this next vid is real. I was still living in Nashville when this happened. I refused to beleive what I saw is real, but it was, and to think, Hollywood has been getting it right all along. True, but remember the difference in technology when Europse began crossing the Atlantic en masse. That means we may be encountered by aliens far beyond ourselves... or just bacteria.
I like the way Freespace put it, that the Shivans had an easy time because they came across species which were so far below them. We were the only they encountered which lucked out and had another develop at the same time, giving us properties which made us dangerously unique enemies.
