With the recent launch of Elemental: War of Magic, we now have the engine we need to start bringing the pieces together.
It's amazing how much has changed since we started the project. Our radical concept of people playing a game "for free" but being able to pay for additional content has become much more mainstream and is now called "Free to Play".
We don't have any due dates yet but things are moving forward.
Let me be the first to say: BOOYAH!
This looks like an amazing game concept and I'm glad you guys are working on it again.
Looking forward to seeing this gem grow into something great (or seed... whatever makes more sense.)
This was always the most interesting game Stardock could have produced in my opinion.
But I have my eyes on this one.
Stardock is the magician that I look to first for innovation in gaming. Someone referred this game to me, and since it is so close to the concept that I had worked for 3 years on while in the navy, you had better believe that i'm going to play the hell out of this game.
Good shit! keep it coming, and keep your company small. Once you get big you get arrogant and destroy your game quality (blizzard).
fricken love you guys!
Woot! Stardock launched me into my internet addictions with Stellar Frontier and now I'm a full-time gamer! I love the kinds of games... Well... I mostly just loved Stellar Frontier and it's exciting to see a game like Society / Star Peace / SEED / Celetania / Ballerium / Boundless Planet brought back from the dead!
I look forward to alpha/beta/launch testing! I have led #1 guilds in many F2P genres of games and love being on the cutting-edge of MMORTS community-development! Right now I play League of Legends because the MOBA genre is going mainstream even though it is relatively newer than other e-sports.
Haha! Finally! I am so glad that I have continually checked in on this. I was so excited when I realized it was no longer being snubbed This game will be epic, god speed!
Any updates? I've seen too many MMORTS games go bankrupt, but it still hurts when one of my favorite developers cancels a game or one of my favorite artists goes on hiatus. I look forward to playing Society, because Stellar Frontier (by Stardock) was my introduction to MMOs.
Come on guys! Let's see a blog entry before New Year's.
Happy end-of-hiatus Anniversary!
No updates today? </3
I'm still really amped to see Society reach the light of day. It was a fantastic concept in 2006 and I still believe the original vision is relevant in 2012. I hope we hear some news regarding this game in the coming months.
I've been playing Age of Empires: Online recently, and the art direction bears a resemblance to the concept renders of Society buildings from way back when. The game-play doesn't seem quite as grand as what was envisioned for Society, but its interesting to see what parallels Do exist.
What happened..? societygame.com redirects me to stardock.com
So, two years after the "moving forward" update, is there still any life in this? Anything at all?
Since Society was announced, I graduated high school. And college. And got a job, and two promotions. They invented smartphones. We fought a long, protracted war. We've seen two presidential terms and a pope. I've lived literally a third of my life waiting for this game to come out.
Is this on anybody's radar? Is your current generation of developers even aware of its existence?
lool awsince.
