There has been talk about how gold would be worthless to someone in a post apocalyptic society. This got me thinking, what if potential heroes wanted more than just shiny heavy metal?
Perhaps heroes should have semi-random hiring costs that go outside of the gold box:
Thoughts? Comments?
Cool idea, would allow for more powerful heroes that have more/on going costs. Some additional ideas:
These would be neat, hope the developers browse these forums. Some good ideas!
Some of those things sound a little iffy. Giving a city to a hero to be its own faction? How do they even serve you, then?
But this is a good idea in general.
They could also ask for things that benefit them that you might be inclined to do anyway, like outfitting them in armor (or giving them a horse or a sword) or imbuing them.
PS you can have my wife, she's already borne me the maximum amount of kids anyway.
You'd need a vassal system. Semi-permanent alliance with tech sharing, maybe if your vassal gets too big for his britches, he tries to take you on.
In other words, we'd need to see a big early-plan part of the dynasty system actually implemented. Me gusta la idea, mucho. At least for Enchantress if not the base/parent game itself.
- start war with another faction (those bastards killed my wife/husband/child/parents/cousin-four-times-removed) within the next x years- make peace with another faction (my whatever relative lifes in their land)- raze a city of an enemy (same reasons as above *g*) within x turns- don't build any shrines of a specific type for at least x turns- get x shrines of ???- have a certain amount of goldmines (i.e. for stay-at-home heroes furthering gildar production - they won't waste their talent for someone without enough mines)- same with libraries, metal mines etc.- my daughter wants a pony (no wargs - horses! *g*)
and so on.. but please make sure the requirements are very clear, can be easily reviewed and the champion reminds you frequently if you don't react fast enough. Also, I think most of these requirements should be full-fillable within a certain amount of time, otherwise you have to them and then search the whole world for the wandering champion. or let them camp at one of your cities paying them x gold per turn for waiting, so you have an incentive to finish the task quickly.
another idea: after serving you awhile, your champions offer you personal quests on their behalf (like in dragon age, when you befriended your companions enough)
These ideas are great, the idea of different types of costs to gain champions is great.
The idea of quests to either gain the champion, i.e. they need you to get something or kill someone/thing and quests coming from champions some time after they join you is great and could add a lot of character to the (erm) characters.
wonderful ideas. Except, perhaps giving the hero a city as an independent kingdom. perhaps if the city was a vassal, or locked into a semi-permanent alliance, perhaps it would , that might work. wonderful
