Since v1.1 came out I have not run across a single Lost Library. The same seems to be true of 1.11. Did Lost Libraries get removed from the game and I missed a note to that effect?
Still around.
Yep. I've been seeing lost libraries regularly in every patch...
I think they spawn about as often as horses do. Goofy huh?
horses?, there are horses in this game? Are you sure?
Ha. They do seem awful rare. Usually, I play kingdom to find wargs and play empire to find horses.
Lost libraries are really rare for me, but I see them every once in awhile.
It might kill the immersion but having a generic resource that can be turn into either horses or wargs might be better, or it might not. Making it an option might be good to.
Heh. In one tile, wargs are hunting horses. If you want wargs, corral the horses so they're easy to catch and feed to the wargs. If you want horses, kill off the wargs. That sets the resource generated by that tile for the rest of the game.
That is a great Idea. (if someone allready mentioned this in another thread.. then you had a great idea as well )
Or just have a 'breeding ground' tile that can become either at any point in the game if you can build the structure.
Or make it possible for both Empire and Kingdom to use both, but it takes extra reseach to be able to use the other type of mount.
Lost Libraries: actually living up to their names since Dec. 2010.
Horses, though.. either they need to be more common or we can start calling them "Lost Herds."
Lost libraries? very lost. I rarely find them. Lost horses, I only find them playing an empire (and can't use them). Lost wargs - see entry on lost horses. ^^ agree with all the above. I think the idea of allowing BOTH empires and Kingdoms to utilize both horse and warg tiles in some manner has great merit.
I think the intention of the designers was to use the horse warg division to enhance the Kingdom/empire divide, then the current arrangement does that in a very limited manner. its still merely (mostly) cosmetic. Allow both sides to 'domesticate' them both, when the sov has researched it. In short, remove the kingdom / empire restrictions for both horses and wargs.
Now, make horses and wargs VERY different, not just in appearance, but in actual play. May I suggest the following:
Wargs much larger that horses: think elephant. (Yes, I know, wargs are based on MANY fantasy games where they are a kind of wolf on steroids.) But, hey, Elemental is not your father's fantasy game. Its OURs, and its different.
Wargs are larger than horses. A domesticated horse, trained to work with a soldier, can be controlled by ONE soldier. Wargs, however, need a group of three soldiers to train and create the mounted warg unit. Wargs are way bigger, higher melee, greater HPs, etc. but each warg requires 3 men, err... humans err.... sentients to handle one warg. A warg unit, trained, is actually one warg, and three ... sentients.
other trade-off: Give wargs the 'feature' that, even after domesticated, and when mounted, and in combat, one (or more) may freak out, go bazerk, and just attack anyone ('friend or foe' thats nearby. Lets say that every turn there is a possibility that the riders reassert control. But the possibility exists that all three riders are killed and the now 'lonely' warg just gallops for home (original warg tile).
Riding a warg gives you a height advantage. And one of those 'eye' icons so the unit can sight further.
That's weird, in every game I've played I have at least 2 Libraries, and in the latest one I have 7 (thought, to be honest, that's a bit ridiculous). I have 2 cities that have 2 Libraries each, and 3 other cities with 1 each.
Horses are definitely rare, but they're pretty easy to trade for with other factions if you don't get lucky enough to find it on the map. Generally, I don't need them too much for my basic units, and you can just buy them in the shop for heroes and sovs/heirs.
Rare -no my friend - Elementum is Rare - I don't recall the last time I've even had any, horses would be second rarest and Libraries a close 3rd
Hmm.. fair enough, but Elementium is at least supposed to be rare Considering all the spiders and wolves randomly roaming around, I should just find spider mounts instead of horses!
rare sure - but hardly every seen- sheesh - it should be call Invisibilism
True, and the fact that you get only like... 12 the whole game even if you do find some, makes it kind of pointless to create units with that level of gear.
Now i know where all the lost libraries went in my game... they teleported to YOUR games...
Lost libraries aren't lost in my games, but horses usually are - saw my first one in my just started game and was surprised - didn't even know such a thing existed!
1.1 killed random maps in my opinion. And I also thought lost libraries were no more because of this! But then again there is allot less of everything in 1.1 random maps. Their so bland and boring i don't bother with random maps at all anymore, they have been nerfed into oblivion.
But one good thing did come out of killing random maps - it forced me to learn the map editor, and i have never looked back since!
PS: in one map i created, i put 4 lost libraries in close proximity for the purpose of a tech city, anyway, when i played that map, 3 more lost libraries spawned in the same area!! Nearly fell out of my chair! But in any case, i have noticed edited maps seem to be more generous with random spawn - possibly because i selected the spawn factor with the highest number? but i do not really know what that does? Possibly a way of resurrecting random maps, which i have considered? In other words, i could edit a saved map, but only change the random spawn and do nothing else, then save it and play it as if it were a random map.
