I'am not a great at modding but iam confuesd how to make something useable to another.
I mean to take the phase gate and make it useable to the Tech but i'am not sure how to change or give to the tech and help for this problem?
All the structures and ships a race can use is in the (racename[tech in this case]).entity file. You might have to remove something if there is no more room in the UI for tactical structures though.
There is room for 2 more items but i still cant figure how to add or even make the research work or pop up in it. i just need to know what to change on the file to make a useable phase gate for tech. I looked at the SG races mod but iam still dumb at modding. beside changeing the vaules of attack hull points and blah stuff that is easy.
Open up playerTech.entity
Under entities->planetModuleInfo->Page:1 add your Phase Gate entity (original is PLANETMODULE_ORBITALPHASEGATE or so)
Under entities->researchInfo add your Phase Stabiliser research subject (original is RESEARCHSUBJECT_PLANETMODULEACCESS_PHASEGATE I think)
Increase item counts as always.
If you are using the original module and research you might have to move a TEC research for the button to show up. If you are using a custom research change the researchPrerequisite in your PLANETMODULE file to your custom research, and move that wherever you want in the techtree.
Use the Dev.exe to check for errors (overlapping research buttons, typos)
I get it now ty. i didnt know about the playertech file for all the info it has to be added to that file. lol i feel dumb and worst then dumb lol
Look at GalaxyScenarioDef. Then try adding a Vasari unit to the Quick Start setting. At least the playerRace.entity is organised, uses direct entity references and has the important information at the top (and the very bottom when adding new races)
GalaxyScenarioDef is a jumbled mess of random information piled up into one file.
do i need to change anything in that file to get it to wokr right with adding the phase gate to tech
I got the icon to show to build it but i still cant get the research to work right it wont show it or i cant change it without killing the game. making it minidump everytime i start it up
1make a copy of the research should be in txt
2rename it put tech instead of phase
3open the entitymanifest up th ecount one add the name like the rest there
4add that research to the player tech entity
5change around the location till it shows up
