I am on an Intel Atom N450 1.66 Ghz Netbook with 1GB Ram and Win 7 Starter with Icon Packager and WB7 loaded. Sometimes when the PC goes into sleep mode and then I wake it up, Object Dock crashes. I have yet to be able to send a successful crash report without it crashing itself.
Also, the GUI when you right click settings, is extremely slow and painful to use at time. Its not slideshow material but it makes you wonder if there are numerous memory leaks happening now and then to make the stability of the program go into the garbage.
To tell you the truth I don't think Windowblinds or Iconpackager were design to run on a system that only has 1GB of RAM and Windows 7 Starter Edition.
I think I would agree with LightStar, you may not have enough resources on the Netbook.
You should email support@stardock.com and see what they say.
I agree with the suggestion that your system does not have sufficient resources to run this software.
The good news is that most netbooks accept 2G of RAM, and RAM is pretty inexpensive these days.
Even if this isn't the problem, you will be happier with double the RAM.
One more thought....... I think I recall reading that Windows 7 Starter will only allow a small number of programs to run at one time. If that is the case, you may be hitting that barrier.
Windowblinds 7 , Icon Packager work well under Windows 7 Starter and are supported per the application history and tweaks to the program found on Impulse.
Also, Windows 7 Starter does not have a simultaneous application limit as they previously thought of implementing when the product was introduced to the public.
Maybe you guys are right, I should contact Stardock Support.
FYI, This is the dual core atom, not the previous generation that was found in netbooks a few years ago. Checked my memory usage and with the items loaded custom wallpaper (thanks to the latest build of WB 7 ) and only 3 custom icons on my desktop (along with object dock) My memory usage is 75% which is pretty damn good for a netbook.
Go Canucks!!
