I just purchased demigod since it was dirt cheap on impulse, and i'm a big fan of other moba titles like league of legends.
After playing a few singleplayer skirmishes there are still a fair amount of things i don't really understand.
1. What determines war effort upgrade or whatever it's called
2. Any tips for balance between item purchases, and other expenditures ?
3. Are any of the characters more noob friendly than others?
4. I know that some heroes have movement speed upgrades in their skills. What other options are there for moving around the map effectively?
5. How do i determine what items i need?
6. Anything else i need to know/ general tips
1. Flag control. The more flags you control, the faster your warscore rate goes up.
2. Generally people get 2 helms and 3 health items. Some opt for 3 helms for mana intensive characters (queen of thorns, rook, oak) while others opt for 1 for less mana intensive characters (beast, torch bearer). But usually 2. Unbreakable boots are a must for pretty much everyone.
3. Unclean Beast, Oak, Erebus are all very noob friendly. I would suggest picking one and sticking to it until you feel confident with that demigod.
4. You can teleport with scrolls (250g each). There are favor items that increase movement speed or act as teleport scroll. There are items you can buy to increase your speed by 10-20%, and these stack. One item has an on use ability to increase your speed by 50% for 8 seconds, another item has a % chance to increase your speed greatly.
5. Experience. Also, looking @ strategy guides posted for characters will give you a layout for which items to buy, what build to go, etc.
6. Check out the strategy section for an extensive list Conveniently Nucleus Accumbens listed all the best posts into one nice post here: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/365172
gl and hf! Just make sure that when / if you go online to join or host noob games at first to test the waters and gain playing experience
Looks like nana gave you some good info. Welcome!
If you do decide to venture into multi-player, I suggest hosting your own games and calling them new player only games. Hope you enjoy SP and we're happy to help you out.
I would also recommend pacov's and 4nana's replay commentary on youtube. A lot of things to learn there:)
Thanks alot 4nana, and i appreciate the warm welcome from you others.
*fires up another solo skirmish*
You don't learn how to run a marathon by watching Olympic runners.
Well, a lot of athletes (particularly in team sports) spent hundreds of hours during their careers reviewing footage of themselves, competitors, and all-time great athletes.
Observation is important, but it is certainly insufficient alone.
I think he was mostly pointing out that I go at a quick speed and unless you have a decent idea of what is going on in the game, the replay isn't going to be helpful on strategy
Simple:
Slow down time when watching replays. It worked for the Prince of Persia series.
That's right. Watch my insanely slow replays
