I've spent a great deal of time reading the forums, and looking over the StarDock web-site and product offerings.
I decided to purchase ObjectDesktop and a theme, I have Impulse installed.
My question is this - while looking over all the products offered by StarDock - thinking I might purchase others - I find MOST of them list XP/Vista in their descriptions and there is NO mention of Windows7 (again, for MOST, I'm not saying ALL).
Am I to assume they are not compatible with Windows7 or is this just a lack of updating your web-site?
This should be an easy question to answer - I'm looking to purchase more products, I just want to make sure the information on your web-site is accurate! If I'm missing something - some info somewhere on the product pages - I apologize. Just let me know.
Many Thanks
/D
Many skins have Windows 7 support. Not all. 7 being fairly new, there aren't as many 7 skins as XP/Vista skins, naturally. To update all the old skins to 7 would be a daunting task and up to the individual artist.
Most of Stardock's main apps are 7 ready.
I have Windows 7 and I use the following.
WindowBlinds
DesktopX
CursorFX
Icon Packager
MyColors though most of the skins are XP/Vista skins
Deskscapes
Fences
LogonStudioVista works great on 7, despite it's name.
Tweak 7
Skin Studio7
ObjectDock
Just DO NOT try to use bootskin on Windows 7.
Hey THANKS for the quick reply RedNeck!
I was actually very pleased to see that Impulse REFUSED to install the BootSkin thing - and TOLD me it wasn't compatible with my OS! That's great, but Criterion on the other hand - DID install - and the freakin' taskbar doesn't cover the entire width of the desktop!!! And I had to PAY for that one!!! LOL I'm still pissed - but at least I got a good list of what I can and cannot use - THANK YOU AGAIN!
Peace
Dude, some skins don't go all the way to the edges of the screen. They're made that way. If you have aero on your system, no problem. If not, then you'll get some ugly whitish spaces at each end of the taskbar.
What do you mean if I have aero on my system??? (pardon my ignorance)
I have noticed - now that I've downloaded and tested out about 4,097 different skins LOL - that several don't cover the entire horizontal width. It just seems so very strange.
No, that is called 'design'.
I think you mean "poor design".
It's supposed to be that way. It's called "customization". You can always go back to Windows.
Aero is the ability to have transparency. Windows 7 has it. If your system has a good graphics card/chip to run it.
What version of 7 are you running? How much RAM and what graphics card/chip?

Oops I forgot my
I was just breakin' balls there with my comment - I didn't mean anything by it.
All this stuff is so subjective - some people like it one way, others like it another.
But one thing is CERTAIN and I'm sure everyone will agree - THERE IS SOME AWESOME TALENT here - and some AWESOME people who make their work available for others. To them, and those willing to participate in the forums I give mad props and respect.
Yes, there is and yes, they are.
FYI: On my non-Aero back-up rig I prefer the full width taskbar due to the resulting white areas on each end instead of blur (crappy Intel on-board graphics) but on my main rig anything goes.
Anyone know if Bootskin is ever going to be Win7 compatible or has Stardock already wrote it off as a dead issue?
Cheers.

PS. I have always been impressed by the work people do on all the app's offered.
I haven't heard anything lately about bringing it to Windows 7.
To be honest, my rig boots into Win7 so fast it would just flash by anyway. I did like it on Vista though.
