If anyone else was incredibly bored with the Empire factions all being stupidly Death Blasted Land (despite contrary faction descriptions) and the Kingdoms all being Goodly Grass Land, this changes it to give the factions more varied terrain, it changes absolutely nothing but terrain and color schemes so it's completely patch compatible and will only ever interfere with a patch that diversifies their currently boring homogeneous terrain types (and slightly colors).

Hopefully Stardock will officially do this at some point. It really makes no sense that some of the factions would even have the terrains they have given where they're supposed to be located. It would be tempting to come up with some ad hoc excuse for why the empires all have the same terrain, but it wouldn't make the game any more interesting or aesthetically pleasing.

Really should have gone in the mods forum. And what do you mean they are confusing my 7 year old has no problems navigating them...
What's really sad is terrain is only visual... and serves no other gameplay purposes. Fire Elementals walk across snow the same as desert, Soldiers wearing plate armor walk across swamp the same as those wearing leather, archers shoot with the same accuracy at targets in the forest as they do in grasslands, etc., etc., .
Maybe someday we'll see some creativity for terrains.
Lords of Magic, for all of its problems, did a great job at varying the terrain.
The Mod Release already is on the mod forum. This post is more of a complaint/suggestion with a link to the mod for those who are interested.
No offence but many people have already done this on their own, if we all made a mod thread about it, and then an advertisement / suggestion thread about it here as well, we'd be flooded by the same thing.
I made a mod thread about it because no one else had and one isn't listed among the released mods, and not everyone mods the game themselves. Also this isn't an advertisement thread I just provided a link. Can't a thread have multiple purposes? This isn't a pure suggestion, it's a complaint/suggestion thread which also provides a link to a mod for people who aren't mod savvy and would like something other than two flavors of bland.
