So... yea... there was no other point to this post other than the lulz...
well
lolz
I call it the "bomber cloud". It's just a mass of bombers, and whatever target unit they hit is simply vapourized. Very scary if you don't have multiple capital ships to counter them, plus a mass of flaks, plus a mass of fighters...
hehe.... advent bomber spam.
There is another picture you should take... what happens the second that cloud gets within range of 2 kols.
Eh, I see several fighters in there trying to hide amongst the mass of bombers.
Found 10 in a quick scan. Probably more though.
gasp! your right!
so its not true bomber spam!
actually, you only have about 340 fleet supply worth of carriers, so about 357 bombers... (lets assume the fighters are from your capital ship's squads) so... your only going to do about 14800 burst damage (/13.5 seconds)
that seems like alot, but thats before shield mitigation, damage type, and armor... after you apply that, you prolly wont be able to pop a carrier cruiser, though anything else is definately gone.
more realisticly.... It will do about 9600 damage to a repair bay (before armor), or 3850 damage to a starbase. (before armor), or 4500 damage to a lv1 capital ship. (before armor)
why do bombers do more damage to capital ships than starbases? (expecially because cap ships have higher shield mitigation) good question.
Mind you, A lv5 kol (3 flack, 2 forceshield) would be able to tank about 3x your bomber spam.
(hehe. brick.)
i think advent has the coolest ship design in the game, i only wish there were more selection and onorderissued noises for the strikecraft
what? you dont like the brick?
...
come over here and let me smack you with it...
lulz, yea its just a late game advent star-base busting bomber brood bucking to blow bare bumbed bricks back to boot camp
Naa, as you've said, they'd probably get pwned by a couple of Kols lol
Imagine the surge of xp gain those Kols would get once all those bombers die off...
"This will be our finest hour."
ya wanna know? fine.
2320.5 exp (divided by number of cap ships, ofcourse)
I've never tried zooming in that far to strikecraft....they're usually just a bunch of dots to me
dude.. your missing out... nothing like zooming in on an individual strike craft and watch it weave around the GIANTIC EPIC BATTLE OF FRIGGEN AWSOMENESS.
i cant bear to look at most of the tec ships, its the main reason i dont play them, the other reason being their terrible voice acting
i also find them the most boring and uninspired faction lore-wise
o_0
you dont like... ?
wait a sec...
your a hummie hater!
I bet you were rooting for the predator and the aliens...
I bet you were rooting for the zerg, and the covanant, and the romulans and the Na'vi and the goa'uld and the Sontarans and the ur'quan and the wraith and the xindi and the drakh and the Volgons and the grox and the borg and the cardassia... you know what, never mind. just get off my little blue rock.
I must admit the ship designs are kind of odd but in a cool way. I just think that a capital ship realistically would have dozens of point defence cannons for fighters and small frigates - like this http://media.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/ORD_Phalanx_CIWS_Firing_lg.jpg
As opposed to "flak bursts" but who cares, it's a game...
I only don't like Kodiak for the TEC ships. The Dunov and the Akkan are a little rough looking, but they are converted cargo freighters so I guess it makes sense. The Kol is awesome looking though, I'm glad its the games unofficial symbolic unit (like the mammoth tank for C&C).
I agree with you GeoFan. All the TEC ships look just fine cept the kodiak's 'tank' design just doesn't work in space. The Sova does in an odd way and I agree about the dunov and Akkan... but the kodiak... no.
Sorry, still a total newbie here -- how did you get it that you can see the individual strikecraft even in the distance? I also usually only see a bunch of dots, but even if I were to zoom in real close, I can usually only see *one* strikecraft (moving around real fast), and the others are far away and just iconized. Also, you don't have that little icon of your faction and the color hovering over all your craft, which is usually the only thing I can see on my strikecraft. How did you get that?
Hehe, I gathered 50+ squadrons (not individual strikecraft, whole squadrons) and told them all to go in one spot. It ends up like a big cloud. Then I simply zoomed way in and switched on 'cinematic mode'. To do that, all you need to do is click a little button (The second one to the right of the Menu button that looks like a movie clip thing).
ya, theres a button next to the camera lock that turns off the 2d symbols, and then you hit ctrl+shit+z to get rid of the UI.
cool! Thanks. Camera lock? You mean there is a button that also locks the camera in position? Heh didnt know that either.
well, it locks the camera onto whatever is selected, so you can only zoom in or out (or rotate around) on that object. selecting something else locks the camera on something else. Feel free to fiddle with it, but uasually people perfer that the camera zooms to where your cursor is.
