I have seen alot of posts lately talking about Dynasties, but I have a specific set of concerns with respect to children and your family. Perhaps this may be a lack of knowledge on my part, but currently, there is no way for a child to get married without being married to a rival faction. With respect to male children, this is fine as the new wives are given to your faction an grandchildren eventual join too. This would be fine if every faction received an even distribution of male and female children.
However, consider the scenario where by you sovereign has all girls. In this scenario, your dynasty would be doomed to either have no grandchildren while these female champions fought for your faction, or only have grandchildren as members of other factions. If you married of your children, you would gain diplomatic bonuses, but your rival faction would also get access to the spellcasting grandchildren of your children making them far more powerful. I think it should be possible for your children to marry npcs just like the sovereign so that grandchildren can be produced by a single faction without having to intermarry.
I agree on the part about being able to marry NPCs.
You will not be left without champions, however, as the grandchildren will sometimes ally themselves with their mothers original faction, ie. leaving the faction they were born into and joining the mother's parent's faction. Did that make sense?
Which, on a side note, will allow you to inbreed your faction in the most horrible fashion, as you can match your sons with their defected sisters...
Which could make for all sorts of interesting repercussions. Perhaps inbred children have a higher chance of achieving some special ability...but at the cost of public opprobrium that might cause your cities to revolt.
Hmm...just like now the real world works.
Just so you know your grandchildren can and sometimes will decide to join your faction instead of their parents one. So they took this into account already. Same for when you have grandkids with that female who came to your side. Those babies grow up and some might side with you or with their other grandparents faction.
While I am aware that grandchildren can change sides, it is not a significant chance. Ultimately speaking, my issue is really that I should be able to choose not to arrange marriage and instead solidify my dynasty within my own borders.
I heartily endorse adding incest to the game.
Also, as was mentioned in the suggestions forum, we need a spell to change the sex of heroes. "Arcane Transgendering."
I recall reading from somewhere that daughters could inherit titles of dynasty they are married to which could be a boon.
So is it possible to take over dynasty by marrying daughters to them and then offing the boss & sons, leaving only grieving widows who return to daddy along with all the inheritance?
It seems pretty significant in my game. All 3 of my grandchildren have sided with my ally. Granted, they kind of suck, so whatever...
I'd like to be able to easily marry off grandkids to adventurers.
I agree, though I would want to see this as one part of an overhaul of the champion system. I would love to see loyalty added to the game and each champion given a side ( Empire or Faction ) which dictates their initial loyalty. At current, champions don't feel real enough as they are just like normal units whose level and equipment you can manage. It would be really cool if you could marry your daughters and granddaughters to them to improve their loyalty or to add more depth to your family tree.
Easy to fix. Allow for more children than just four.
i hope they will enable it in the first exapansion
Incest is already in the game, I married a brother and sister and they had kids...and I married their kids to each other! Not sure how long you can inbred that thick in real life before you get mutant tards, but I should be approaching that.
You can marry your daughters to the neutral factions (if you have them enabled and one makes it into your game); then at least your daughter will not actively be competing against you. But still, meh.
The best outcome I've had with grandchildren was marrying my daughter to Kul-al-Kulan's son, then having their son defect to me, which gave me a leader with the Organized trait (since the pre-gen Sovs still have Organized). That would also work with Kraxix or Markinn. Likewise I've goten grandaughters with Royalty from Procipinee's line, etc.
I don't really mind marrying my girls off, by the end of the game, I end up with 50 channelers anyway. I don't even use most of them.
