Just wanted to say thanks for the game, its very fun and I can see even more potential with the mods in the future.
I love supporting Stardock when they make good games. There is alot of depth to them, they might not be flashy or have tons of hype behind them, but sure can make some awesome games with fun and deep strategic gameplay. Also I respect how they patch things so well and listen to the community.
So far i am really enjoyed my time with this game and I can see this beign a series for many years. Hope it sells well, good luck.
I'm also happy with it, but more happy with the huge potential this game has for the future.
People must realize that the game as it is right now is just naked. There is potential for at least 4 expansions across many years. I hope stardock walks that path instead of producing EwoM:2.
This is my civ4 replacement for quite some time I will be more happy when the game doesnt crash on me as often and other things are smoothed out, but I'm still playing prerelease day version, so I can't complain too much
Soon as I can break myself away from the gameplay, I wanna do some major customization and make mods like the ones I have for civilization. I have the feeling its gonna be a while
Elemental is merely the skeleton with just a hint of meat on it (WoM game). The potential of Elemental is mind-numbing, particularly with the talent that is both in Stardock and in the community. Elemental, on its own, still stands very tall. I can't wait to see what is rolled out within the next two years.
Glad others are enjoying to to. I have played maybe 6 hours now and I just love it!The Continouis mode is wicked! Its getting very addicting! I have that "JUST ONE MORE TURN!" feeling that I get with Civilizatino and Dawn Of Dsicovery games
So glad I got this game now, so much potential and cool ideas (;
Glad I am not the only one really enjoying this game
Out of curiousity, what is it that you people find enjoyable about the game in its current state? I'm mostly in the "It has potential" camp but some people seem enthralled with it out of the box. Where's the allure?
It has TONS of potential for mods and next games in the series. The groundwork is set here for a fantastic series imo.
The gameplay is fun as heck, its very deep and is just fun to play.
The continous mode or what ever is just extremely fun to me.
Yes there are some issues, but the good far outweigh the bad imo.
I have not had any crashes in 6 hours, so I cant comment on the crashes that some people are having.
I just really enjoy what ive played in my first 6 hours of this game.
Its very very addicting, I kept telling myself "One more turn! Thats it!" but I just kept playign longer and longer.
Sure it needs some work, but what is already here I am enjoying tons. I also know it will only get better.
Rough around the edges but thats what happens alot of the time with ambitious titles.
Yeah, thanks Stardock for a GREAT game. This is the first game I thought I got my money's worth since Neverwinter Nights and expansions (NOT NWN 2).
Thanks again for a GREAT game!!!!!
Glad you are having a fun time to bud
I was really on the fence about this game... but now I am soooooo glad I bought it!
Yeah, I'm in no hurry for Civ5. Between this game, Civ4 and all it's mods, plus all 3 AoW games installed, Civ5's an afterthought. Maybe when it's half off I'll get it, but even then, eh, whatever. I'll be smokin' the Elemental crack pipe for quite some time
hahaha, great post bud.
I am so addicted to this Elemental game its not even funny
I recommend Elemental to all lovers of strategy and RPG. The gameplay is fun, you have alot of freedom and choice, and it has a great feel to it. And the best thing is it will grow better and better. I love it already, and haven't been so glad for a new game since Civ3 and Civ4. This is history in the making of good 4x turnbased gaming.
I agree there is some balancing needed, especielly I find it annoying that it is to easy to found new cities, and they are spammed out covering to much of the map. Thats the only thing ruining a bit of the atmosphere for me. But I have hopes it will turn out abit better there as well.
I also understand newbies wants more tooltips etc. But I think the UI is fine as it is. When things are learned they feel logical and right.
All in all, impressive work from Stardock. Love it.
I'm actually pretty happy with what this means for Gal Civ! I believe they said it would use the Elemental engine, and Elemental ROCKS! Stardock ROCKS so by extension, GAL CIV WILL ROCK!
I'm really looking forward to the future patches with their performance and AI improvements. Even though the game is pretty tedious for me to play atm and so so challenging I'm still having a blast.
Just played for another 2 hours with the 1.05 patch and man im having such a blast
Playing a large map game on the sandbox mode and man is it great! It really feels like you are part of something big while playing this game, like you are getting things back on trakc for hte world (:
Have not been this addicted to a game in awhile
And to think I was thinking of not getting this game right away.. sure glad I did now.
I keep telling myself One or Two more turns.. but that turns into 200 more turns haha, this really is my type of game I guess, I donno, but its just what I want in a game (:
Mmhmm its alot of fun, my only.
Only.
Grievance i have has just been crashes every few hours, the autosave system has been having issues on my system apparently, so its just been painful >.<
Been playing since I got it yesterday, it was between this game and another that just came out.
Super glad I choose this one, lots of fun, so many choices and customizing, city building plus alot of other stuff. Whats not to love?
I have to admit that I was very disappointed when I played the pre-release gold version and I did regret the purchase. After installing the latest patch and having played for many hours today I must say that the game needs a lot of time to appreciate, it's a tough beast, but after you learn your way around it's very, very good. It's not perfect, there are still pressing issues, the magic system especially, but the foundation is fantastic. I am so looking forward to the future of this game. Nice work.
No doubt, definatly has a learnign curve, but once you get into things, man is it addicting and awesome
I swear where has all the time gone? I've played 3 days of this now and don't want to stop to sleep now. haha I have 1 more day off wow it seems just a few moments ago I had 4 days off to play this.
It's a lot of fun because it's new and it's something I've waited for for a long time. Since Master of Magic actually.
It has so many elements of so many other fantasy strategy games also. MOM, AOW, HOMM, and Alpha Centauri and it's 3D too which is the only thing that took me some getting used to.
I don't see these UI issues some are complaining about. I know what every button does and what I need to click or push to get the game to do what I want....so what more do I need here?
The way you make stacks is rather unique as well and the fact you have to research higher team and grouping abilities makes it even better. It's much like the logistics tech in GalCiv2 to me. Now we just need that shrinkage tech so we can have even more units per stack than what is it 12 max? I think the most I've gotten is 12 but I think some races or factions can go higher?
The tech tree system is just fantastic. I love the way they did it. I also like how we can design our units instead of them being static choices like in all those other games except Alpha Centauri which I think this game takes from when it comes to upgrading and designing new units.
The ai is challenging enough if you play on a small map and give them higher levels of difficulty and play on hard map. I don't know how larger maps play since small maps is all I've ever played on once I discovered the ai plays a better game on them.
So I have to say that people who don't like this game just don't want to like it. I can't see the reason for all the malcontents myself.
Yes I join the thanks thread too !
Yesterday I decided to buy the game, and followed it more closely then : 2 patches in 2 days, really impressive work !
Here in France the game got 3/10 in a test at gamekult.com, they just stupidly took some test info from uk apparently and wrote about "Stardock CEO tells not to buy his games, well then no chance we'll buy them then", without investigating at all.
Well they missed the game completely ! I am enjoying more and more myself with this game, and the passion in all this community, and in the dev team is really excellent !
I don't know if such bad critics are because of your independant status, but anyway that's a good reminder to be cautious about what this kind of site can write sometimes. Anyway congratulations for your awesome work so far !
So thanks for all that, I was starting to loose hope to see a really good game in this area (after 10 years of non evolution of heroes of might and magic).
So much negativity lately but with the release of patch v1.06 Elemental is much improved over Day 0. Great work guys! More patches needed but there's still fun to be had!
another happy customer here as well, thanks SD! I haven't touched Civ since EWoM came out.
Personnaly to have a more accurate opinion, i will wait for the next patch.I don't find it so fun right now.
I find it interesting that's why i still trust in it and won't, as i intended to, get a refund, i think SD need support, but i can't say (no rant ,troll ,blahblah) that it has the little 'plus' that would entertain me about the replayability.
Major issue for me is the lack of content (diversity) and balance/challenging AI.
Other than that EWoM seems promising but i dont like to wait .
It's growing on me, despite unfavourable first impressions of pretty much everything except the graphics, which I think are absolutely terrific. There's also an awful lot there you don't come close to noticing at first, although I have no great sympathy towards SD in that regard as the documentation is awful and some of the core mechanics, particularly the magic system, are grossly flawed. I'm still playing the game and having some fun, rather than asking for a refund, but it still baffles me completely that anyone could have thought it remotely ready for release.
It is essential the base game is brought up to shape before any add-ons are even contemplated, but I'm hoping in a year SD will get there.
