On Monday and Tuesday we’ll be on the Elemental chat channel (you can get to hit by hitting Shift-Tab once you’re in the game and going to the chat area). There we’ll be answering questions, providing suggestions and just generally hanging out to help you get the most out of the game.
We look forward to seeing you!
I'll be there with plenty of modding questions, chief....Oh you're going to regret this one
Bring your XML notes
I'm the mod master. So knock yourself out.
At the risk of hubris, no one knows the XML stuff like I do.
Sounds great.. shame I'm in Aussie time... I might catch some conversation during the night....
Excellent , my only worry is I won't have a complete understanding of all the questions I'll be wanting to ask about the code. Don't think that will let you off the hook though
Also, here's a Multi-Player Idea I thought you'd enjoy. It's on Wizard Duels. https://forums.elementalgame.com/391097
Another example of how Stardock "wins" at developing (and releasing!!!)!
Does that mean on Monday people who pre-ordered will have the game? I can't see any other way to get into game if tried to update beta and lost it.
Wait who is this Hubris guy?
What kind of risk are we talking about and are we sure we want to risk him?
Can you give us a timeframe EST, Froggy? Like 8-4? 10-2? Etc?
Do you have any particular times that the devs will be in the chat room on those days? I've gotta work late on Monday (and Tuesday) and I'm hoping you guys will be in there later at night...
I think very small amount of ppl haven't seen game before and not be able decide what they should do in game. Questions about mod-builders spawn some later i think, after euphoria of having game is dispelled, sandbox is explored and campaign is end
So only words of sincere gratitude and admiration will be in chat, and be quite - this team deservedly receive it! Great work!
Can you also please give us your Time Zone?
Sorry about this. I found the answer in another post. Stardock is in the Eastern timezone (-5).
East coast (EST)
I am still living in hope that you'll surprise us and it will be available for download this weekend
Wow I guess it hasn't just been the game that has changed between beta 1 and gold
Any volunteers to save Q&A highlights or chat logs from this for those of us who won't be attending?
Or are there any Elemental gaming fan news sites up that would get in on this?
Thanks.
I would just like to say to the StarDock team that it really means alot to us that you guys go forth and put in the effort to make a game thats worth playing. Honestly I havent been this excited about a game in a long time. Constantly games roll out that are either dumbed down to the point where they are to easy, or are unfinished and buggy. Galactic Civ2 was a great game, and the support for it from your team was what made it really special. The extra effort you put in most of the time for free really sets the StarDock team apart from the rest of the companies out there. This game is going to put to shame most games that have been released in the last few years. All of us are grateful that games like these are still being made with care and quality. Thanks again!
S.R.
I specified EST to hopefully avoid confusion. Didn't even realize they were over here!
Good question karma™, coming right up.Also, I second that question.
How does the game treat XML namespaces? If I, for instance, introduced an annotation element/attribute and employed it in the game's XML files using a different namespace than the rest of it, (how) will this affect XML processing?
I'll be saving Large Chunks of it. Any Time he talks about modifying XML I'll be copying that part of the text for making a rough draft modding guide hopefully with the answers to a Lot of specific questions. I wasn't kidding, Frogboy's really going to get annoyed with me on those days. My list of questions already numbers in the 50's or 60's. In fact if anyone would like to compile a list of questions I'll work them in with my list of questions and we can squeeze as much info out of him in 2 days as possible...hehe.
Here's an example of how the questioning is going to go that day:
Frogboy: Morning all, as promised I'm here to answer your questions you may have about Elemental.
RavenX: Morning chief Ok, Question 1: What file can I find the setting to change etc etc...
Many Hours Later......
Frogboy: Well, it's been a long day everyone. I'm off for the night but I'll be back tomorrow!!!
RavenX: Frogboy, another quick question before you leave. Question 129: What line of code do I need to change in file etc etc....
At the end of the day he's going to be really fed up with these questions...LoL. Sorry Frogboy, but I gotta figure out Everything I'll need to change and what the files are I'll need to change for my goals with the Dragonlance Mod. Think of it this way though, it's better you come online to do it instead of me spamming up the boards every time I get stuck while working on the mod
I will likely stop by to fire off a few questions regarding gameplay if I run into any trouble. Otherwise, I'll likely only pop in briefly (after a few hours of play) to be a total fan-boy and sing my praises.
If this is the case, you might want to consider giving him the list early, so he has some prep time in case there are questions that cannot be answered off the top of his memory.
Might Shift-Tab briefly while playing to see the mayhem.
