Has anyone gotten married and had kids in the latest version? If so how do you do it? I've wanted to try the dynasty system but haven't been able to since the early betas.
some issue with the code causeing no kids to happen not a real game killer sinces its not total useful at this stage.
I've had a kid in the latest version - but only as a male sovereign. My female married sovereign went 400 turns without having one.
I seem to recall the latest patch notes saying chance of having a child is now 1/250 per turn, so it's pretty rare thing now.
unless the retail version radically slow down pacing the current ratio seems way to far the other way from where it was.. I think some where in between where it was and now is would be fine.. I mean after all having one or tow offspring joining you in the field is not only fun but a god alternate way to get more heroes...
Well if they go through all the trouble to make a dynasty option 1 in 250 makes it basically unusable from what I've seen so far. At least, in my last runthrough, got to around 250 turns, and of myself and the 4 other nations, there was one child. Not a lot of marrying for them to do lol.
It's pretty unlikely now, yeah. I understand that people shouldn't have 14 kids in 100 turns, but zero kids a game kind of negates it. Maybe it should be on a sliding scale where your first child is 1/30, then 1/50, then 1/100 for subsequent kids. That'll pretty well guarantee you one child if the game goes any duration, but you will see some randomness in how many you get after that.
No marriage? Can I at least have concubines? If not how will I create an ever-lasting Spaghetti Monster dynasty?
This sounds like a very good approach to me, even faintly realistic given the challenges of maintaining family loyalty when travel times get long enough for someone to get pregnant and give birth en route from a provincial city to the royal capital.
On the other hand, maybe the devs are puttering with some ideas about encouraging sovereigns to make their own first marriages diplomatic ones? Somewhere recently I had a game going as Procipinee and there was a magic-centered independent faction fairly close to my starting locale. Maybe the game should encourage us to think about spouse-hunting among factions like that rather than shacking up with the first opposite-sex wandering champion who comes along.
I agree with GW Swicord, Tridus seems to be onto something here.. I like a sliding scale but if its used I suggest that the also a a random factor for example..
first child is 1/30 +/- x (where x is random number between 5 - 20), 2nd is between first child's birth and x (where x is random number between 5 - 30, or some similar equation.. the goal is kids as heroes and diplomacy tools early enough to be fun but not done and dealt with in first few hundred turns...
a random chance to have twins would be kinda cool.
indeed!
Second the twins motion.
Oh it sounds cool - until it happens to you. *cough* love them to dead but jeez 1 at a time is easier *cough*
The mother told me it was harder in the beginning, easier later on. I doubt she is shielding me from anything at my age. Twin toddlers in the same room, play for hours. Lone kid, well my little sister was a terror and bored all the time. Me, i had a built in play mate. Weee!
Anyway, twins would be awesome, and maybe ultra rare triples would be interesting too.
I can't see the marriage option anywhere within the game, I go to the Kingdom Info, I get no choices for wife.
What an odd thread to necro... anyway...
