I just purchased Object Desktop. The concern is that I already own a registered copy of WindowBlinds 7. I want to place the rogue copy on another computer that I own. I have tried to uninstall WindowBlinds and reinstall but the old serial number is used. I want the Object Desktop serial number on this computer and the standalone version of WindowBlinds for my other computer. Both computers have the same email address and I want to remove the standalone serial number to the other computer and use the Object Desktop serial number on this desktop computer.
I do believe that this has been talked about in a similar fashion here before.
And I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel quite confident in telling you that...
Example: Let's say your at home... you have a laptop and a desktop. You may download "Impulse" to both computers and use the same serial#.
This is a personal use thing... and should not be expanded upon. (that said with the assumption you know the proper rules and laws of this topic.)
Now with all that being said, (less confident)... I THINK that the "standalone" serial# becomes mute.
For more info you can refer to this thread...LINK
Not to be rude but your explanation doesn't seem feasible. The standalone version will end in December of this year and the WindowBlinds that comes with Object Desktop was just purchased yesterday and won't expire untill this time next year. Doing it your way will cause me to loose six months on the new subscription at the end of this year. There has to be another way? I am the legal owner of two (2) copies of WindowBlinds 7 and one expires six (6) months later than the other. Thanks for the speedy reply. BTW I tried to register the new WindowBlinds with the Object Desktop serial number and an error message pops up and says the new serial number is not recognized by Stardock.
Sorry if I seemed confusing... But what I am referring to is you can use your Object Desktop serial on both computers that you own, and are the primary user of said computers.
You should uninstall the "standalone" version through Impulse.
Open the Impulse Program after uninstalling the original Windowblinds... and click the little blue question mark in the upper right hand corner of the program... then you can register you new serial.
Then download the programs you wish on both computers.
narbytrout was giving the best business advice for your money. Why install just the windowblind on the other computer, when you get it all for FREE when you install Impulse on the other machine using the same Object Desktop Serial#. You don't just get six months to use the windowblinds, you get and extra six months making it 12 months. Talk To Me
I apopogize for my misunderstanding. I have uninstalled the standalone version twice rebooted and then loaded Impluse. The old serial number is the only one to come up. I get an error message saying the serial number I entered for the Object Desktop is not from Stardock. I am sorry for not understanding.
Don't sweat it... we're only human, right?
So, Did you copy/paste your serial?
If that don't work, you may need to start a ticket with Stardock Support by using this LINK... part way down the page is another link to transfer registration numbers.
Other than that, I gotta get some sleep before I work tonight... so good luck! and uh, if you would... keep me posted on your solution, I'll check back tomorrow to see if you got anywhere.
I have uninstalled the standalone version of WB. I tried to add the new serial number from OD and got the same error message. I removed the old serial number from the standalone version. A message said that this would only remove the number from the screen and if it's associated with Impulse it would not be changed. I don't want you to loose anymore sleep so I thank you for your reply's but, I think I may have to get Stardock involved and have then cancel my old serial number and add the new one. Thanks again for your time and patience in trying to help. Have a great day and don't work to hard....
From the sounds of it, I'd recommend contacting support@stardock.com and we'll try to help you out.
