Hi.
I used to play this game a while back, but I stopped for a bit, and now I'm kind of getting back into it.
When I used to play before, my computer handled this game with no problems at all, on very high settings.
I had a 9800 GTX OC card back in that time and everything was great. It broke on me though after some time and I bought a GTX 275 OC and installed it into my PC. Now, I am getting low Sim Speeds to the point where it is unplayable when I do 3v3 or more people games.
When I first start the game, my Sim Speed is about 8-9 but after some time (min or two) it drops down to 4 and quickly to 0 and below...
I have looked through numerous posts and tried all of the sound things (/no sound , turning sound to low settings , etc.) and none of that worked for me. Other than the sound I haven't tried too much because I haven't seen much else.
If someone knows what the possible solution to the problem is, the input would be appreciated.
Finally, sometimes, the game would crash and an error would come up saying: OUT OF MEMORY.
I'm guessing this is for the graphics card but I don't understand what I am to do to solve this. I have tried lowering my settings..
MY SPECS:
Windows Vista Premium 64-bit
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.4GHz
4.0 GB RAM
GTX 275 OC
-----
Note: The only thing that has changed since the 9800 GTX is the graphics card. (and time so some software.. but doubt something that would cause this)
THANKS
Could your graphics card be overheating? That would be my educated guess considering it takes a while before it dips in performance and conks out. Does this happen with other graphics-intensive games?
No it's not overheating. I checked the temp.
And I play COD MW2 from time to time on max settings with 0 problems. So it's definitely something to do with Demigod.
Hi
You said your sim speed is droping,so most likely your processor is overheating after a few mins. of running Demigod. The game itself is CPU demanding so i suggest:
1. check your CPU core temperature
2. check if all cores are in use when running Demigod
3 run some program to test your RAM memory sticks,in case there is a faulty one(memtest ot something similar).
BTW try to borrow some graphic card, see if it has changes with different catd
Is it multiplayer issue only?
Or do u also get slower in single?
Only thing i can think of is:re install sound drives and direct X.
Also play a bit with option such like:
sound quality
resolution
and AA
and ensure v sync is off
Out of memory is usually a hardware problem in your memory (not just graphics but regular) or a software problem which is creating a loop thus it runs out of memory to write to, usually a driver. You could first try and re-install the game if you hadn't done that yet and update your graphics drivers. If the problem remains I'd test the memory. You can find a test on google using memtest as keyword.
hi.
first off, thanks for the input/replies.
i checked the CPU temp and yes, one or two of the cores are getting kind of hot (~70 C) but to contradict this, i lag more when i play with more people ?? this is the thing that's confusing me.
i'm not sure how to check if all cores are in use during Demigod??
i ran a memtest and the results came out fine.
as i mentioned, i play call of duty: mw2 on very high settings with no problems. i feel that it has higher requirements than Demigod so this confuses me as well...
I tried playing a 4v4 game in single player and it was fine -- smooth. so it's something with multiplayer it seems..
as i mentioned before, i tried messing around with the settings.
i will try to reinstall all drivers (i tried graphics already but not sound yet)
also, i have reinstalled the game (after doing system restore a couple weeks back just to make sure it wasnt some software)
Ok you can check this by right clicking on a taskbar-select task manager-select performance.Open Demigod in windowed mode(in video options). You will see that Demigod like most other games doesnt use all 4 cores. Now if one of the cores that Demigod uses is overheating thats maybe where the problem is.You need to clean cooler of the CPU or set some extra fan to cool it down.
Of course first of all reinstall all drivers(graphic, sound, motherboar,DirectX).
You said single player is fine? If you use some programs during multiplayer turn them off,see if it helps.
I would also ensure that impulse is up to date.
And also try opening game in windowed mode. Join multiplayer game, press alt ctrl del to bring up task manager and go to process tab and see which process takes so much memory.
also you can try to delete game.prefs from C:\Users\XXX\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod
Deleting stored settings from demigod solves a lot problems. It will automaticly be recreated once u run demigod again.
Is XXX your username for Porn?
rofl I was totally gonna mention that.. but.. I felt silly trolling on such an obvious thing, I wasn't feeling that awesome.
I was.
nah. just dont want you to have my admin username. And then by taking IP from game log you r 75% done taking over my PC

hmm
stop posting stupid shit on my post.
I reinstalled my drivers and so far 2v2 games have been great. I'm too scared to try a 3v3 or more b/c im afraid im gona crash again :/
I will do it though and let those of u who actually posted something relevant know whats up..
as mentioned before, my RAM test is good.
i tried messing with all of the settings as much as i could, no help. also, i tried windowed mode - i think it was even worse.
also, i deleted my game.prefs (or whatever its called) folder and this didnt seem to do anything either.
i checked and im pretty sure my impulse is up to date (it updated when i first ran it, so im guessing thats the newest version)
In conclusion, after deleting and reinstalling all of my drivers, and direct x, i havent ran into problems in 2v2 games (ive played 2, no lag at all it seemed) - i had played a game yesterday and it was a long game (both teams had giants) and it finally said "out of memory" about 5 times before the game crashed on me (
ill try a 3v3 with these drivers changes and see what happens...
thanks again!
You can try that too:
Just backup ur file in safe place like always so you can be able to restore it
I have played a couple 3v3 games and they all went good. It seems that unistalling/reinstalling all of my drivers has done the trick.
..
I had uninstalled/reinstalled my graphics drivers before but this time i also did direct x, chipset, sound, etc.
Basically, anything that I could have, I did.
...
Thanks to everyone that has posted something to help my problem, i appreciate you guys doing that :]
Laterrr.
