Hey all... I'm thinking about getting back into modeling again but the program I am most familar with Wings3D is giving me issues with computer mouses. The one I used before I left behind with my other stuff before I moved so I have to look into getting a new mouse.
Any suggestions please also... I'm trying to not shell out a large sum of money to get it... so any suggestions of a mouse that is cash tight that will work for the program would be extremely helpful
Ah it's the man himself who gave me tips before when I started learning how to use Wings, ah sure thing I'll send it in wings format for you seeing how your most familiar with it, I'm still trying to figure out gMax and XSI and I'll give that meshlab a go
Hello all once again, I come bearing a new model its in the works still. I had to drag myself away from the current one I'm working on to keep my interest fresh.
Ever wondered what would happen if the current model ever got destroyed and got a redesign? lol well here's the Radiance mk. 2 for everyone's eyes to look at. Just finished the base ground work of the model in the past hour

Copy the "Direct Link" from image shack. In the forum reply, insert image (the little green tree). Here is your pic. I right clicked your image and copied image url and inserted image here with the copied url.

A side note about the new model:
compared to the other Radiance Model this model will be slightly shorter in length and a little wider in width. It's going to lack the large main cannon in the nose of the ship which will instead be replaced by two smaller less powerful versions of the phased singularity cannon which will be housed in the two arm/wing sections of the ship.
At the moment the ship looks more blocky then anything else at the moment

I'll just go with these 3 for now. This is a near complete model without any turret points... and I'm noticing something that I'm getting better at the models that I'm doing, So far this is the most complicated design I've done and I do have to say I'm very happy with the way it's turning out
Interesting shape. I like the design, but how many polys is that?!? It looks like that may pose a crash problem with the game....
But it does look quite nice in design.
This was a mashup I did of some Vasari ships.... and yes, its poly count is WAY to high.

actually the model has around 9k poly's I've been cutting it down some more so I can make the turrets on it. Optimal poly count I've been told for a captial class ship should be around the 9k area. Right now I'm just making some of the larger sections that can be merged into several areas and then triangulated without destroying the curve shape the ship has.
