Can someone explain what the various elements of relationship status mean, and how to interpret the "Their relationship with you is ___" and "Your relationship with them is ___"? I'm confused about some aspects.
I've figured out some of the elements through trial and error, but a full guide on what they mean / how to control them would be really useful.

I have been somewhat successful in maintaining good relationships from only one side (Their relationship to me). I have not been able to improve my relationship to them.
Do they need to complete MY missions?

Diplomatic Inclination: might be based on fleet strength (too strong to fight so we'll coooperate)
Racial Inclination: +1 if same race -1 or -2 if others
Adjacent Territory: proximity to their emipire, further away is better
Missions: increase from completing missions max of +3
Mission Rejections: reduction from rejecting their missions
Fleet Strength: large fleets negatively impact this, small fleets positively impact this
Military Actions: things like helping them win battles or not helping
Diplomatic Actions: giving pacts
Resources Given: bonus from donating resources outside of missions
Envoy Bonuses: relationship generated from envoys
Research Bonus: researched diplomacy stuff
AI Relationship Bonus: dont' know
Yes, just give them simple missions like "kill x ships of player abc" when they are already fighting player abc's ships, instead of the stupid "kill x civillian buildings of playeriveneverevenseen" that they spam you with
If you give them resource missions i think you have to give something back because they just reject if there is nothing in it for them, and don't forget to target yourself
My opinion:
Diplomatic Inclination: a random number between around -2 and +2 rolled at the start... as it says it's their inclination to diplomacy, and it's not linked to race or fleet etc. also it's not changing
Fleet Strength: from my observations, having larger fleet actually increases this number... i think it's: small fleet ->he can be crushed easily, then why do we bother with diplomacy vs large fleet ->he is a force to reckon with, let's parlay
Military actions: killing their enemies /anyone they have low relationship/ increases this
I agree with the other points though, although it would be best if some dev came around and enlighten everyone.
Well Diplomacy is bugged to hell in my opinion. diplomatic inclination is quite stupid as its randomly suggesting motivations to peace or not.
As i see it atm if i have a small fleet i have a negative relation with ai's but if i have an over powered fleet its set to 0. To me that seems backwards.
Military actions is poor too as i have recieved missions to attack an ai's friend when i do i get a bad relation hit for attacking their ally and good relationship bonus for doing it. Whats the point?
To get the ai to like you, you need to send them on missions but you have a super high amount of resources to give as a bonus for completing it but when they fail nothing happens, no relationship hit. If i requested resources, say i wanted 50 cystal id have to pay 4000 cred as a bonus that dont seem fair.
Plus you should be able to make pacts with more than 1 ai. Like i said Diplomacy is bugged to hell, wish i never bought it. Stick to entrenchment.
Oh wow... I remember I broke this down when the forum went nuts and then my post was stolen by gremlins.... Anyway:
Relationships are built in two parts. The first 10.00 points come from everything aside from envoy bonuses. Envoy bonuses grant an additional 10.00 points, up to the maximum of 20.00. This means envoys are absolutely necessary to form pacts. It also means your partners need at least 7 planets in their control to reach 20.00 points.
Again, can anybody address the specific questions quoted here?
To my knowledge, the AI bonus is something that all human players have with AI players. It automatically brings the human's inclination statistic up to 100% with them so they can forge any treaties or alliances available so long as the AI player is willing to reciprocate. This also means that AIs still need envoys to get pacts with you.
