I use to come here a few months back and you could find interesting posts in the off-topic section. Now it looks like all there is is forum games of this and that. Hell some are even version 2 and 3 of the same game.
What is the points of all these games anyway. Is it because people don't have anything interesting to say anymore?
Having been here in your absence, my sentiments are much the same. At the same time, many enjoy the games and I wouldn't deprive them. Perhaps a game category is the best answer. If it were my decision to make, I wouldn't spend money on it though. Seems it's up to the rest of us to be interesting.
I think your answer sums it up perfectly.
Is this a new game? I think I get it. I must agree with the person before me and then say something interesting. I agree there are too many games in the off-topic forum. What is really annoying to me is when my boss says the word "methology" when he means "methodology".
Ugh, I know what you mean Solam. I started the whole game thing when I saw a You're Banned game somewhere on another forum. I read a few pages of it, and thought the Stardock forums would find it cool. I never expected thousands and thousands of responses, and many other games. Wow...
No DJ, it's not a new game. All bosses are annoying for one reason or another. His mispronunciation could be Freudian...he may be a RPG gamer.
I would like to be able to see recent posts when I log in in the morning without having to scroll past a dozen of those off topic game threads. just saying.
what wrong with games sure they may clutter up a bit but many find em fun i for one enjoy your banned iv had a few laughs ther but the games do need there own catagory tho
SO SAYS THE QUEEN OF CATS!!!
Well as someone who plays the games sometimes I think it really comes down to having nothing else to do......
Would you rather we don't post @ all?
i agree with ghost
Well no. I wouldn't want that either. I guess my index finger won't cramp up too much scrolling past the game threads.
How about somebody with the power to do so create a seperate sub-page for all the forum games. Its a pain to have to scan through them all to find the threads I'm interested in.
Spam. There are/were a few honorable exceptions but the rest are spam. Glad that we don't have (public) post count in these forums. That would be another reason for some people to... increase their forumnite e-peen.
I'm so sick of these damn things. Let me not show off topic for Science's Sake. I'm here to read the DG forums, not 'What if you had something interesting to say!' crap.
Seems more like just one another reason to add an Ignore This Thread function to the Stardockia forums. I've posted in a few 'forum game' threads, not found them really interesting over the long haul, but accept that taste is, well, taste. If I'm on a run remembering, enjoying, and/or inventing light bulb jokes, a light bulb joke thread is good fun. Otherwise, yes, it seems like clutter.
(apologies for the crap formatting at the link destination, but it is born of Usenet...)
They usually only bug me when someone seems to feel the need to go respond to every one in order so the entire recent posts list is nothing but them. Otherwise ignoring them is tolerable.
glad that we don't have (public) post count in these forums.
I totally agree with this, it's probably the worst idea forum developers ever came up with.
What about us folks who happen to enjoy Stardock, and the folks in them. We have every right to be here. And I don't mind going past everybody elses problems, bragging, or game interests.
There is a public post count in Stardockia, just not a prominent one. Right now, it looks like you have 5 OPs and 160 replies.
I think a 'karma' system is a far worse idea than the discrete inclusion of post counts in user profiles. I give karma regularly, appreciate that folks have taken the time & clicks to give karma to me, and wouldn't for a second miss the feature if the devs ripped it out right now.
The 'low end' forum games often strike me as attempted 'karma farms.'
