The idea of fenses is to hold my icons where I want them...
Not have them go leaping out of their fences to exist, squashed into the small amount of 'unfenced' terroritory left on my screen! I have no clue what happened, there was no crash or diagnostics that I can see, and I just spent half an hour getting them back into the kinda-right places, with a very rough order -- alphabetical order would work better!
Any ideas WTF happened and how to avoid it in the future?
What version of Fences are you using? This was an issue with some of the betas, and I think maybe even the RC, but should be fixed in the latest version.
SD Fences Pro V1.00.4275
As far as Impulse is concerned, that is the latest version.
As a side note, it still has that annoying 'icons move when you use them' issue going on. It's worst with older games, but even newer games like Dragon Age sometimes do it. Please, I love the fences idea but if it keeps doing that I'm going to have to quit using it... it's horrible to have an icon randomly jump to a new fence, and then have to go hunting for it.
We've had a few reports of these issues, but nothing we've ever been able to solidly reproduce. Although Fences is pretty robust in regards to watching where icons are dropped on the desktop, it is possible for it to lose track of them. The only real suggestion I have is to send the debug information to us via support@stardock.com and we'll pass it along to Jeff and see if any changes can be made.
Well I'm able to solidly and consistantly reproduce it. Literally half the time I start a full screen program, if not more often, it moves the icon on me.
Tell me how to dig up the debug info and I'll mail it to support!
It dumped again this morning (bleh!) and I still have no clue what causes it. Please, tell me how to access the debug info and I'll send it in!
Right click on the Desktop and select "Configure Fences" and under the help section, click the "Report a problem" button.
