Civilization 5 has just been announced, the screenshots look pretty nice. It seems 2010 is going to be a really interesting year for TBS gamers

Civ 4 Colonization.....
Bought the game, marginally enjoyable for someone who loved the first one but they didn't put much effort into it. Just sort of reskinned Civ IV slapped colonization on the front of the box and called it done. That is how you could have 2 people playing the dutch by my converts would show up at the other dutchman's settlements. It was just... messy. The Civ series certainly has not be perfect, and I agree with the others, Civ V has to offer a lot more than hexagons to get me to switch.
Sounds fun!
This is already on my preorder list. Even if it isn't quite as good as Civ4 it will probably still be fun, especially the way I play it. I would probably buy Civ4 with better graphics and hexagon tactical-ish combat.
Well I have to admit I have played Civ IV for going on 5 years now. I play with my sister. When we get into a game like these we play a long time and then some which is one of the reasons I care about DRM issues. I don't burn through a game, typically, and then toss it aside. I buy a game, play it to the ground, stop for awhile, pick it up and go again. Not to mention the mods are incredible and done by people who share their incredible talent for free (as opposed to say The Sims crowd which likes to charge for a lot of things).
At least one.

LoL, any news you could share with us?
Afraid I can't say anything that isn't already known. More information will be coming soon though.
P.S. These smilies are intense.
I have CIV IV as the best game ever on my subjective list, so I will be buying both Elemental and Civ V no matter what state they are in.
The biggest worry regarding Civ 5 vs. Elemental is that, should Civ 5 come out first, devs here might get so caught up in the turn-based fun that Elemental finds a severely pushed back release date. I mean, have you seen how excited Frogboy is about all this? A little disconcerting.
Therefore, voting for an early Elemental release is the only logical thing to suggest. Let the Civ 5 devs push back their game because of an addiction to Elemental, right?
Oh, and hurray for "Year of the Turn-Based Games!" (Finally!)
