Denryu's done some interesting polls via SurveyMonkey, but I'd like to see some current opinions on a 'simple' question that has been around pretty much since the Elemental boards launched in late '08.
Yes or No: Should having your sovereign die mean the game is over for you?
If you can stand it, please keep your answers to a single word. If you want to argue the question, please start a fresh thread or pick up with one of the old ones related to the question.
My answer is "Yes."
Edit: Admiral100 raised a very good point. If you want an option to choose, please reply Both instead of Yes or No.
No
Of course it should.
You're not some abstract god or some eye in the sky. You are the Sovereign.On another note, I think "survey threads" are generally frowned upon.
Yes.
everybody says yes
I was coming to say "shock!" it has returned!
Didn't Frogboy say something to the extent of "there isn't much point discussing it since that is how it will be"
YES
----->Yes.<-----
sure,
Waaaaagh!
I kan haz beta umies?
An option for both?
----->No!<-----
No... with privelages.
edit: now can we have an "is there anything more important than flashy 3D graphics and beautiful 120 FPS animations?" survey thread? @ Hortz
Yes
Make it optional for both! You want fast games (sov dies game over) and you want long games(sov dies next in line child gets his/her powers.) I mean more options in my opinion are better. Dont see how this could hurt the game. I know I'll play with both options.
No. And no options.
No. No. No.

yes
Tough call.
If the AI is smart..... Yes
If the battle AI was like in Medieval 2 Total War.... No
For me it would depend on the AI, will it be willing to take "safe" risks to get the advantage as a human would and know when the risk becomes too great? I'd hate to play a game where multiple competitors died in the early game due to pushing the limits.
Personally, I'd like an option for sovereign loss -> next in line gets the throne--particularly because it makes marrying off all your kids off for champions a bit riskier.
I can picture it now. You lose your sovereign in a battle, and the throne passes to the one with the strongest claim... some other faction.
Man, I've been playing too much Mass Effect 2- I was sure you asked if the game should over if Sovereign from Mass Effect 1 died..
Yes if no heirs are apparent.
Both. More options = more awesome
Though I imagine I'd choose 'yes' more often
The danger with the Yes vote, me included, is will players then wrap their sovereigns in cotton wool. Never exposing them to danger. This may lead to boring games, or games that quickly turn into King killing games. Strategy may go out the window!
(After all, if you save you game prior to the battle, isn't that the same as 'no'? Unless the game wouldn't let you reload saved games of that sovereign...hardcore).
