I can't find this in the documentation: One of the main races gains a super advantage (can't remember the exact wording). The notice goes on to warn that if this race is not wiped out, they will take over the galaxy very soon.
This forced me to destroy the Terrans who were one of my major trading partners. Does anyone have more info on this event?
They found some precursor technology, activated it, and they're on thier way to Godhood.
Personnally, this never affected nothing in my games, as I was on my way to a diplomatic or Influence Victory.
I suppose if they're your ally, treat them well.
I think it creates a low rise of stats, like toughness and researcha dn such, slowly, but surely..
One of their planets had a strange icon in the ship queue I've never seen before. Every time I fired on it, the response was the same as if it was any other destroyed ship. But it didn't go away until after about 5 volleys (all in the same turn).
If I remember rightly, the event you mention steadily adds to the named civ's ability bonuses (maybe +1 per turn to all abilities?). Unless you're playing a very long game on a very large map, it seems to be largely a dud of an event.
I've never noticed the other AIs taking notice of it when it's happened in my games, and it never seemed to cause me any obvious problems if it came down to me needing to take out that 'blessed' civ.
Next time I'll let that civ develop and see what happens.
Hi!
There are actually TWO events of this kind: a fast and a slow one. With a fast one the civ gets each turn an 1% increaase in many (if not all) "fields". The slow one gives 1% icrease in only one field per ~2 turns. Please note some of those fields are no more in use (like Crime, or Government). So nothing to worry about the slow one.
But the fast one... If the civ in question is significantly smaller than the big players, and it suits you to keep it alive, just watch it carefully. If it's a moderately sized one... In 50 turns they'll have 50% bonus to production, econ, reasearch, morale, weapons, defense, soldiering... Don't keep them alive, if you want a solo victory, because you'll not be the one who'll win.

is there a way to mod it out? I hate those mega events the 1% a turn fast one. It completely destroys my game enjoyment factor.
Infact I've been almost completely turned off from playing GalCiv2 due to that one random event that happens every game. It severly unbalances the game and takes away the "rise of the ladder" effect of my journey. Also, the AI don't seem to understand the ramnifications of that mega event. They don't bother the ultra race until its too late and that ultra race is pounding on everyones door with 500% ships and mega influence. Races combined can't even take out the minor race. And, for me alone to try to nip them in the ass in the start is probibly, but super sucks. Why? because I tend to be the only one that must war them, thus using most of my resources until I completely annhialate the ultra race. That takes many many turns and by the time I kill them off, all my enemies and other races are 300% better than me. This event should be taken out of the game in my oppinion.
H!
And it does not come in every game, does it?
If it happens, then deal with it. The gain to them is not all that fast, if you act quickly.
And face it... some games are no-win situations.
just quick save regularly, if the event happens, load the previous save and it probably won't happen again. I do this for the dread lords mega event, which I hate.
