Is it me, or do cap ships get stuck every single time? Dont cap ships have a reverese gear which they can use to make a quick getaway?
No, unfortunately... Someone forgot to put in reverse thrusters... In all reality though, the AI only knows how to do U-ies. It can't do three point turns unfortunately...
All of the advent capital ships probably are. And if they could move as well as they shoot they'd be fine.
actually... they can back up... i have seen it... though they do it only when you tell them to back up less than a ship length or so.... and never if you actually want them to.

Actually... often times frigates DO turn so slowly that it would be faster to build a new one than turn around.
The catch with constructing a new frigate factory is that that involves moving a construction frigate into place, which will probably involve some turning.

Well I'd imagine they are designed similar to how ocean going vessels are, the bigger they are the harder they are to stop, turn etc. They do both have thrusters and the like for manovering, but to make them equivilant to the main drive of the vessel would leave little space for anything else and be very expensive. But as for them turning slower than building a new one, well I think that they have been given a slow turn rate to give the effect that they are very large.
but, getting stuck on an asteriod or planet? how can that be relaistic?

You know all advent ships have a shopping mall at thier core right?
(Similar to Space Ball 1, but that was more a faimily entertainment 'day out' kind of ship.)
I think all capital ships need 'L' plates on them.
