Enough said. It's been how long now? 2 years? Either refund us money, or start working, because that's why you get paid!
I am as keen as Your are on 2.0, but to keep it fair : There is no right in a refund, as we all purchased 1.x. You won't ask for a refund on Windows XP because Microsoft was late on Vista, right ?
And don't expect too many friendly answers regarding the tone of Your post.
i'll get on it right after breakfast
breakfast? BREAKFAST?!?! When I was your age there was no breakfast! We'd be grateful for a dry crust and only minimally muddy water!
sheesh!
Sheer LUXURY....
In my day.....

On the other hand, if Stardock were to refund people then they'd be loosing money, which is a good incentive to get the wheels rolling quicker. This thread is another example of a frustrated customer. That's what happens when people are made to wait and aren't given any information. Simples!
- Not speaking on behalf of Stardock -
It is important to remember that when you purchase a product you purchase it as it is now, not as it might be in 6 - 9 months time.
I agree that it would be nice if there was more information provided and I have tried my best to get those involved in that project to post here but unfortunately without much success. Personally I think even if the news is bad news the customer would be happier knowing rather than hearing nothing but everyone has different views on things like that and this isn't one of the projects I am involved in.
Now that Fences Pro has been released I would expect it to be at or near the top of the ObjectDock teams priority list, but I cannot give you any indication as to when a beta would show up, or even what the upgrade policy might be.
While I agree that when one purchases a product, one does so on its present rather than future merits, but future merits may (and very often do) come into consideration. This is particularly applicable to ObjectDock, because its product page states that it is in constant development and is enhanced often. Such statement cannot be misinterpreted and it's not unreasonable for a potential customer to buy on the basis of OD being a good product (at present, as perceived by said customer) and the claim that it is updated regularly (a future merit).
Thank you for trying and it is concerning that people who are involved in OD are reluctant to share information with the community that has been patient in awaiting updates to OD.
This is my Opinion and my opinion only
You are acting like a little kid throwing a tantrum to get your mommy to buy you something or let you do something. You are in no way entitled to refund. If you no longer like the objectdock works with your system move on there are other options for dock software I have seen Links all over this forum for them. Honestly I have even tried a few but I keep going back to my objectdock. As any computer owner knows you will see software and sometimes even buy it and find out it wasn't what or as good as you thought it would be.We throw it in the draw and say that wasn't what I thought it would be.Yep we threw away that money. Personally the only problem I have had with objectdock is the weather docklet not giving me the proper tempature. Easy fix I dumped the weather docklet and got a working desktop weather gadget no big deal. I have lots of Posts saying that they have problems running fences and objectdock aat the same I persoanlly have not had any of these problems as they cohabitate on my desktop just fine. Do I think these little problems entitle me to a refund absolutely NOT ,Because I know pretty much all software is what you install at the time of purchase and somethimes you get a limited amount of updates at the software manufacturers discretion period.
I have been using OD for quite sometime and when I purchased it they never Guaranteed there would be updates at any specified times or dates. I see quotes from people saying it would enhanced regularly I did not see that when I prurchased and went their didn't see it now but, that is not to say that it isn't there or wasn't there before.
This thread is broken for me on IE8.
I would assume it is due to the formatting of reply # 8, perhaps the Microsoft Word copy and paste bug.
Yes, bad news is much better than no news at all. It's where I feel SD hasn't been to good with the recent years. Examples, other thann OD; DesktopX - now we finally get some info though, but it's taken a long time. Another example, Multiplicity, there was talk about Linux or OSX versions at some point - that also faded into oblivion. And the ThinkDesk package in general..?
Lack of news makes one feel ignored - which is much worse than hearing bad news. At least we would know what's going on.
IE8 tab skinning is something we are looking into.
The MP Mac client has been something of a pain. We have a PPC version running but then the Intel macs appeared. Recent developments mean there are now more macs around Stardock so it looks good for that to finally be released this year.
As for Linux, I don't recall talking about that myself.
Thinkdesk, I honestly don't know.
sorry but i got busy on something else after breakfast. i'll try to get to it after supper tonight.
No, that's how it makes you feel. Don't speak for everyone if you don't know how everyone feels. From reading these forums, imo, it seems alot of trifle things make you feel disrespected when they shouldn't...Ma'am.
On topic...OD does and has always worked great for me. I don't use it how others do or want to use it so I can't sympathize with their problems. I'm not saying they don't exist, I'm just saying I don't experience them. What I have a problem with is people always calling the Developer(s) out on this same, tired issue. Incognito, it seems, lurks in the corner just waiting for someone to put a thread in the OD category so he can spout the same old song and dance he's been spouting for soooooo long. I'm sure I'm not the only one tired of hearing his trivial banter, but I'm one of the few who will say something about it.
Dude, we understand you aren't happy with the state of the current product. We get it. You've made it quite clear, but again, your continuous complaining hasn't helped in any way, shape, or form has it? Don't you have something better to do for shit's sake? For crying out loud man, get over it. Your points are valid, I'm sure...but we've heard them. Again. And again. And again. Maybe you're the reason they are holding it back...
just stop damn crying already!!, what makes you think you are entitled to a refund of a product that you bought a particular version of????. you didn't purchase objectdock 2 you purchased objectdock 1x and thats what you got. It's getting a little boring with all the people complaining that OD 2 is taking so long to be released. IT WILL BE READY WHEN IT IS READY, NOT BEFORE!!!!.
get over it and be like the rest of us and wait patiently jeeez.
*edit
It's not worth it, I don't know why I bothered.
Is it here yet!?
It's a shame that you're not channeling that dislike of my "banter" with the same enthusiasm as you should be persuading Stardock to update OD+. Then again, why would you if this product works great for you? With all due respect, I don't expect you to feel the way I feel. You are free to skip past my "banter" if it displeases you so much.
However, if developers are not prepared to come out and engage in a decent discussion about the present and future of OD then why should unsatisfied customers like myself and others bite the bullet and be silent of the current situation? People wouldn't complain as much if they are provided with information. People wouldn't complain as much if Stardock were to release an updated version of OD+. People are not complaining for no reason.
I wouldn't have minded waiting patiently had I not had bugs and incompatibility issues running OD. Stardock claim that this product is enhanced often, but not a single stable update in 2 & 1/2 years is not something that I'd call often. Yes, I agree that it will be ready when it's ready. However, I do not think that it is reasonable of you to expect all people to just sit back, cross their arms and wait for the next version of OD. The period of time since the last stable version has simply been too long for people to remain quiet or do nothing about.
Ooooh! My mac is an old PPC! But mac version will not be released without Intel version also being complete? Not even for a big box of cookies?
Hmmm, object dock plus works great for me, even in Win 7 64 bit.
One thing I do notice...
inc0gnito's profile shows him to be a visitor, not a current or past customer. This makes me wonder, was the profile created for the sole purpose of trolling?
We all need to go to Detroit with folding chairs and sit in Stardock's parking lot, and around the building (especially in the handicapped parking spots) and not let anyone in or out until whichever item we all want is ready. And they have to serve us coffee.

Besides all what seems to be problems with things present or future to be done...
Myself; I have no problem actually with any product Stardock has made or is in the making of for the future. Sure I understand how it is being you want something better and believe you are right in asking for it. If you are truely that unhappy; then contact sales@stardock. com and ask for your refund. Not sure what all you will get. But they are nice people there and will work with you.
I support these people due to the fact they won't just release a software till it is completely finished. [Except in a beta form] Plus they do a hell of a good job at what they do. Sure others may think completely different from myself. But That is their idea or problems. I've been using Stardock software now going on for 6 years and I'd be in bad shape without it. I'll always be using it even when they stop making it. [Which I do not see that happening anytime soon!]
Thanks Neil for being there on a holiday! You are always working it would seem.
Oh and no matter what the studies say... I believe that to be wrong as if you actually look at what has really happened other than what some study has figured it be. You will see there is a big difference in things. [I'm really not interested in those sort of things.]
Doc making an isssue does nothing more than slow things down in the progress area. If you really want something you find a way to help work with these people to get the progress needed to complete the work itself. Not cause a big thing about it and then get whatever it is they give you.
I'd rather wait till 2011 if need be so as the developer can get things done in a good working order. Than have some halfway done program. Won't matter much to me anyway... it may not be what I realy want and I'll just use the program we have now. [via backup install with impulse]
So truly no matter what you think it is a really sad thing to think you are being ripped off... when actually no one is! You get what you pay for and if you feel you have not? Then ask for your money back and stop complaining. It will be a better world that way.
