I am receiving an error message when downloading the update for Virtual Desktop. The message states that the downloaded file is invalid.
I just got it too. Says "MD5s do not match server".
Also, it doesn't seem to work at all in Win7. Running it says it's installed, and to go to taskbar -> toolbars and add Stardock Virtual Desktops, but that choice is not in the list of available toolbars.
Thanks,
does it still happen now?
I recieve the same message on W7x64. SVD installs fine on this rig with 32 bit W7. Is 64 bit the problem?
I get same MD5 does not match...Win 7 X64....sigh...is there a fix?
I too am getting the MD5 does not match error....also when using Impulse .....SVD....more info......getting the HTTP 404 error.
cheers
Same here. Win7 64bit. I have been trying it for 2 days now. Well, yesterday and today, maybe 32 hours.
If you turn off the "show pre-release versions" option (through the Impulse menu at the top left -> Server , that should give you a version that works. The current pre-release version is not working properly, so you'll need to use the release version.
Mike
It worked!
Thanx Mike!
No problem. That should really be fixed/removed though, so no one else encounters the issue. Sorry for the confusion!
The last OS Virtual Desktops was supported on was Windows XP. 32 bit Vista seems passable, but is not supported. However, 64 bit and Windows 7 are right out with Virtual Desktops.
Its still the 2.0 (2010-03-29) version and dont work for me in Win 7 Home Premium X64
Don't really get what you mean? Will there not be any Virtual Desktops in W7? Or will it work flawlessly?
Virtual Desktops doesn't work in Windows 7. I'm not aware of plans to update this program for Windows 7.
To bad.. On an absolutely awsome feature...
There are a lot of freeware alternatives that have been more maintained. Virtual Desktops is basically retired unless we can bring something that the others do not to the application.
Yeah, this is what seems to be happening to all useful stardock stuff. Retired, sigh. Can anybody give me a link to any of the "a lot of freeware alternatives" that would on the same caliber as the poor old virtual desktop. I still use that one (and Object bar - an another discontinued jewel) but not too long as I am planning to finally upgrade my XP to Win7. which means that I will also end my 10 year subscription to OD as well, there is nothing for me any more.
I can tell what you should bring... Fully WORKING compatibility to Windows 7..Or links to all "a lot of freeware alternatives"
I totaly agree with kuikelo.
Stardock. take care of your customers!

Those were just from some quick Google-ing.
Yes, I have done the same quick googling and found the same *completely useless stuff*. I was wondering if there would be anything on the same caliber as the Stardock Virtual Desktops. I have 12 vitual desktops on my laptop, and 16 on my desktop computer. And I am completely addicted to this system (+Object bar). So once again I wonder if anybody has seen a good Virtual Desktop manager? Does not have be free, I am ready to pay for a good software.
