I've played a lot of games, but I've never seen a comeback from what seems to be a totally lost game before--great replay to watch imo.
Winning team: me as eco, citiizen general lu, greekgeek, nightmare crush (quit early after losing a cap, forcing me to fleet early) and MidNightTester who did one thing really great this game...run!!!
Losing team: Elrosh as eco, chose (pushed back hard with feed late game), ManiacGonzo (killed by CGL with massive feed from me when we were thinking of giving up), Duke3600xx (who took out NightmareCrush on the cheap), and Kfear (who took out MidNightTester start planets eventuallly forcing him to run)
Lesson? A great eco CAN win the game (and vice versa a bad one can lose a totally won game) even when the rest of your team is decimated/stalemated and you're down one/two players early. And winning the early skirmishes may not win you the game (so don't quit if you get wrecked up!!!).
Comments from the losing team over the last hour are worth reading also (at 8x speed ofc ^^)

Amazing comeback? I don't think so, You said your down 2 players early.....i contend i was down 3 players early. Chose was a retard and did nothing but die, same with gonzo and duke. It was me and kfear against you, lu, and greek. This game was a display how crappy players have no idea how to build counters. I am talking about chose and duke and gonzo, pure idiots. The only interesting thing about this game was me feeding and fleeting was the only thing that kept us in the game for over a hour.
I had a similar game with Ferdie, kPax, and five other players who were mostly inexperienced (doing silly things like going fast trade on the front or starbasing in the pocket). Ferdie could have probably killed kPax if his Vasari ally had helped him out, but that ally got spooked with me on his flank and starbased up (then after starbasing thought he could rush and kill me? You just wasted thousands of credits - given a lot of it was feed - on defenses and think you can beat someone whose gone 100% fleet? Gimme a break...). That ally became a lame duck for the remainder of the game and I more or less trapped him behind his pretty starbase line, but he did keep my fleet occupied most of the time and unable to push.
In the end, we won because of two factors. First, kPax and I weren't requesting feed in the early game (it was only once kPax started pushing back after being reduced just to his HW that he needed feed) so all our team's feed was going towards our other front-liner, who was able to maintain a larger fleet and win like that. Secondly, Ferdie and his pocket ally charged into a TEC starbase, so I rigged it to detonate and they lost their entire fleet. Since a PJI survived the blast, we also killed more than half of their capital ships in the immediate aftermath. If that hadn't been enough to win the game, our team had #1, 2, and 3 for eco at this point and I had pervasive economy coming online within the next few minutes.
It honestly looked like a comeback in our case, too, but all things considered this was a classic case of one side of the map just needing to hold out long enough for the other side to win. Their pocket had made the mistake of distributing feed equally, while our team put all our feed on one flank while the other played defensively (I sent my Akkan around the block to colonize stuff and got one hell of a trade chain in the long run)
I dunno elrosh I didnt watch it all but nightmare didnt build a cap until 4 min into the game.Duke easily took him down as he tried to kill his 2 health 2 weapon sb at the desert with a building sb an egg and skirantra all level 1.Then he spammed flak for some reason when all duke had was egg with kanracks.
Here's a similar (though more boring) replay that makes elrosh look good (poor guy took the above loss hard). I feed elrosh from eco who holds off three fleets and eventually pushes through devastatingly. We lost one player early to rush here (Dunpeal Hunter actually just quit, I think he was fine).
Funniest part of this game was that it was fatkid (3 wins of 15 games, true record) capping vs Oldbook (12 wins of 15 games) and fatkid's team wins a player down early on pure eco!

Just saw the replay.
What i like about replays is that it keeps the chat.
Lol at zach and defe fighting over a single desert planet.
And oldbook,,,,his attitude..........
Dunpeal..... Why does he always just quit like that when hes not done yet.
Well all this Duke bashing made me rewatch that game. A few things I noticed
Nightmare Crush got OWNED
Chose and Kfear both struggled to eliminate their respective enemies (Chose not building disciples to counter scout/flak)
N1m getting mad eco very early.
Me giving up 1.5 hrs in and quitting.
This game was a display how crappy players have no idea how to build counters. I am talking about chose and duke and gonzo, pure idiots.
Well, I disagree. But you're right, if I hadn't quit we definitely would've won. (Note at around 1:15 when N1m is attacking my AI starbase... it doesn't even move to engage wtf.. stupid computer). I blame myself for that loss, but jesus christ I commend you guys for playing another hour after I left. nice job guys. next time I'll stick around
