Hey, all, I downloaded the Beta 1 today. I've been trying it out, but I have a few questions and/or suggestions:
1. The Undermine ability: When the tool-tip mentions "round trip," what does that mean? Wouldn't it be best for it to work simply over time, or reduce allegiance increase rate by a set amount? What effect will this have on culture coming in and out of a gravity well?
2. What is the use of the inter-species communication research? What effect does it have on the game, and why is it needed?
3. How do you "demand resources" of other factions? I can't find the command, even after getting the research.
4. Why can't factions share multiple pacts at once? They seem like three totally unrelated things.
5. What pirate changes have been made?
6. The new research trees for all 3 factions are identical, save for different organization and naming. Wouldn't it be more fun and realistic if there was a larger discrepancy between the races? They all have different fears and hopes, after all, and don't have the same motivation to "seek diplomacy."
I understand that this is the "un-fun" version and some of these things may not yet be finished -- I'm just asking just in case I missed something.
Also, I have a small suggestion: Why not place a "find envoy" button on the search function on the top left of the screen?
Thanks for your time! It's a fantastic game, truly.
Yes. I share many of those ideas as Chikumi does. Also I have some other suggestions for the game if I may. If that is ok just tell me so.
Of course -- this is an open forum, after all
Alright. Here are a few suggestions-
1. If your ally has an artifact. You should be able to see what it is. Not necesarilly use the artifact but at least see which one the ally has and which ally.
2. There should be a in game timeline. Like showing events that you have seen. Such as at this point in the game the psi order zealots attacked Provians. Or at this point in time we allied with the Provians. You could put it in the black market category and maybe you can purchase information from the black market on what was happening in a small amount of time. It may be expensive to discover whats going on in maybe just a 5 minute or so amount of time. But really useful!
3. Perhaps planetary Governments? Like being able to have different governments on planets depending on what you want. Like maybe capitolistic planets have better resource income. Or corporatism have faster producing speeds. IDK just an idea.
4. Vasari Starbases should be constructed faster. I mean, they are the Vasaris only anti-starbase weapon really besides a gigantic fleet (which may not be a possible thing to come up with). When attacking its hard to take down Starbases while waiting for yours to construct in the back round.
5. Perhaps emphasizing species differences would be good. So far that has worked well, but with entrenchment and now diplomacy the species are pretty similar to each other. They should have stronger differences so that it is still equal but more fun and sensical.
Undermine may be removed or simply changed, but as of now it should no longer required the round trip. Tooltips are a bit behind on some of this and we apologize.
The idea behind the inter-species communications was that it would encourage players to get into the diplomacy tree by making it required for many of the diplomatic changes already available in the game (peace treaty, ship vision, etc). In the end this just ended up slowing down the game so we're going to remove this as a tech/requirement.
The research tooltip on this is another example of something being a bit behind. Demanding resources has been changed to be a mission type, so now you can give someone a mission to give you certain amounts of resources with the idea that they'll accept it based on a reward, their faction standing with you, or both. Currently the mission AI is a bit... strict but we'll be fixing this in the near future.
We wanted to make choosing which pact to use a strategic choice, but we'll be changing this in the following weeks to be something more along the lines of letting you have one of each type of pact available to you.
We've made the pirates a bit tougher (they'll now use a lot of the money you feed them throughout the game) and we'll be adding a few more things to the game to make them more interesting still. Be sure to keep watching for that stuff.
Yeah, we mostly wanted to get rolling on the diplomacy stuff ASAP, so we used a lot of the same ideas initially, but we'll be adding more race specific things soon.
We'll be adding this in the future, just one of those things that we haven't quite found the time to do yet.
Mostly we'll be focusing on getting Diplomacy feature complete, so any features not central to the Diplomacy design will have to fall on the backburner for now. While we might not encorporate some of these suggestions immediately these are definitely things we're thinking about for the future.
I understand. But thanks for taking the time to clear up chikumi and my questions! I look forward to the future of Sins!
Right now, entrenchment is part of diplomacy, will this always be the case? or can we play original/diplomacy? And does that mean that as entrenchment changes that will updated in diplomacy or will we see more patches/updates that say (entrenchment only, diplomacy only)
Currently the game expansions build off each other in such a way that Entrenchment will always be based off of Sins, and Diplomacy will always be based off of Entrenchment.
Oh. I have another question.
Why is it that when I play Entrenchment and all my prefrences is there. Then I play Diplomacy and its "newplayer" and everything. Then when I play Entrenchment again it has also reset all prefrences. Will this get changed?
It's a bug due to mismatched version numbers in the code for Entrenchment and Diplomacy. Our next patch will force Diplomacy to use a "beta" settings file that will be seperate from your normal file (and thus not clobber it).
Oh cool! Thanks
How soon can we expect some of these updates to be made? So far Diplomacy has been updating daily. Will this continue?
