Wishlist- Be able to click on a portrait when targetting a spell, like Heal. Currently engine does not expose a method to assign a target from the lua UI code.
cut n' pasted from your other mod thread, where I unwittingly posted incorrect info.
This is a great mod! but it seems to cause considerable lag when I use it. 9800 GeForce, 4G RAM, 9850 Phenom BE, VISTA 64... played highest resolution, med video settings. typically get about 8+ sim, 6- sim when running the mod.
I was testing it in a 5v5 on Zik and noticed that occasionaly it would leave hp at zero after DG res at the crystal.
BTW
I have a new version I've not finished yet that should reduce the lag caused by the mod. As for leaving the DG at 0 hp...if you ever notice it again, please upload the replay and tell me the approximate time it happens and hopefully I can repeat the error and fix it.
For some reason your mod has vanish from my in game mod list, while it is still in my mod folder (and I just reinstalled it to try to see if that fix it) I can't find it in gam mod to enable or disactivate it.
That can happen when another mod has the exact same UID. Try deleting all other mods in your folder.
huh.. I just deleted and reinstalled it and it came back.
ok finally uploaded 1.2.3 which makes the health/mana/name text bigger and also makes the health text turn red when low. Also switched from updating every frame to updating every sim beat, which should reduce the lag that some of you have noticed.
Thanks for the update. Installing now and will try it out later tonight. Keep up the great work!
Thx doe the update good one!
Hey, I just realized most people is already using this mod and that you can use it in mod-free online games. Well, I'm not using it yet, and although I see how useful it can be i don't really think this should be standardized IMHO.
I mean, yes this a team game, but you still play as a single Demigod, why should you be able to "magically" see instantly what your fellow demigods gear and Mana amount is? That's what communication-team chat/speak is for after all, isn't it?
I somehow feel this kind of mod is discouraging good team communication, and that players without this mod are in a very serious disadvantage. If you can play with these mods enabled without your opponents knowing, what will be next, knowing THEIR GEAR and MANA too?
I really hate being the devil's advocate here but i feel this trend of mods is creating an uneven playing field.
Please don't flame me too much .......
***runs to hide behind the couch***
I see your point, but I feel that making this information available actually frees up the communication channels for actual strategy instead of status updates. I think that is the point of team work... its to work together to accomplish a goal, not to let each other know how you're doing...
I think the only issues I can see are:
- right now not everyone has this info so you can get into situations where you have dissymetry of information (if they include this mod in the next update then problem solved)
- They need to ensure that you can't see the other team's information...
Cheers,Thanatos
I like to know what everyone has so I know what they are capable of
Given with the state of DG, its either they have mana helms or how many hp items do they have...
Being able to see an ally's mana and health remaining all the time is as magical as being able to ask him/her about them through team chat. The mod simply takes over this tedious need to constantly poll your team mates or your team mates constantly crying "oom".
I see it as the difference between showing a person a map versus describing the directions to him/her verbally. Both achieves the same results, but the former is simply much more efficient.
Regarding your comments about an "uneven playing field", firstly, everyone can use this mod. Also, I am confident that you can get more people to agree that such a mod should have been part of the game in the first place, than people to agree that this should remain optional.
As mentioned before me, the team communication should be about coordinating tactics and not as a work around for being denied vital team information by the UI.
I beileve there is a glitch.
When I use Ring of Divine Might, I can hover over my minions. The little image shown that states what effects are active is not the imagove of Divine Might, but instead something else. I think it's Pendant of Grace.
Janook - that's the Rollover Ally Mod. I believe the explanation is that not all item abilities have the correct icon assigned to them in the game.
Still not fixed. When using both of those mods in unison the game randomly crashes.
that's the first I've heard of a crash. The incompatibility I was referring to just meant that the rollover info would not appear when hovering mouse over an ally if you had the rollover ally mod enabled.
If get the crash again, post the demigod.log file.
Ok will do, but otherwise a great mod.
Great mod! Just curious, is there a way to see how much gold my allies have? Because one of my teammates could see my gold in a game last night and I was curious if that was because of this or another mod.
It's from a different mod: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/369526
Ok, thank you. Are both of these mods compatible?
NP. They should be, BMAN is always trying to work out any incompatabilities. Download em both, enable them and run an AI game. If you have a problem, disable one and continue...no harm done:)
Wonderful, thanks. It is really nice to see UI mods like this coming out.
Bug Report:
I think the team panel is cuasing this error to be logged when an Ally is dead, but you hover over or click their picture in the teampanel:
warning: 00:02:00: Error running '/lua/ui/game/gamemain.lua:OnFrame': ...ames\demigod\dgdata.zip\lua\ui\game\hud_rollover.lua(652): attempt to concatenate a nil value stack traceback: ...ames\demigod\dgdata.zip\lua\ui\game\hud_rollover.lua(652): in function <...ames\demigod\dgdata.zip\lua\ui\game\hud_rollover.lua:403> ...\bindata\mods\bman godlike team panel\partypanel.lua(464): in function `DisplayRollover' c:\games\demigod\dgdata.zip\lua\ui\game\ingameui.lua(154): in function `Func' c:\games\demigod\dgdata.zip\lua\system\callback.lua(47): in function `Call' c:\games\demigod\dgdata.zip\lua\ui\game\gamemain.lua(220): in function <c:\games\demigod\dgdata.zip\lua\ui\game\gamemain.lua:219>
While they are dead you can get this to log repeatedly. Don't think it is impacting the game or crashing anything, but maybe it can stop calling hud_rollover when the Ally is dead?

For whatever reason, it crashes at random when I have both it and the gold viewing mod, but if I turn off your mod, the game runs without a hitch, no crashes.
@Peppe - will fix.
@xclavex - I was hoping for a crash that included the lua stack since that's all I'm modding. Sounds like for whatever reason it is just not working for you. I don't really know why.
