I for one found it frustrating when the AI that I was depending on for support in defending a key system is in fact allied with the AI that's attacking me. I really think we should be able to know if certain sides are allies or not, short of observing how their ships behave towards each other. I would love to know the full extent of each side's relationships with each other, as well as with me. Of course, maybe you have to ask them, and maybe they'll turn down your request for transparency and open negotiations. (Disinclined to acquiesce to your reqeust, as it were.) Or maybe you can have spies and espionage to determine the state of that empire's alliances. Maybe even have secret alliances where they act like enemies, but are secretly conspiring against you. But really, we just need some way to know how the other sides feel about each other.
There is a new screen in the Diplomacy expansion called the relationship screen that lets you view every players standing vs. every other player, which includes alliance status.
YES!!!
No more cursed AI's double dealing with you!!! No more being allied with 2 AIs who are enemies and being unable to complete the missions!!
I'm not sure I actually want that. At minimum, I don't want to always be able to know all alliance all the time (well, I want to know, but I don't want everyone else to).
Really, I think it should be information that you have to work for somehow, be it through research or diplomacy or espionage. Stealth alliances, while dirty and underhanded, are a vital part of war and taking them out would make the game lose the most effective/realistic little bit of diplomacy the current version of Sins has.
Edit: Whoa! The dev changed his user icon (and maybe screen name) while I was typing my reply. Weird.
New icon. Same name.
That icon is so sick. man. Stardock has some real talent!
