Its been over 1.5 years since Sins was first released and this is Ironclad's 22nd update to Sins/Entrenchment (ignoring all the beta updates).
It really hit us how the gameplay and strategies have evolved since then when we started tracking the source control changes for the siege frigate data which, as many of you may remember, went through a drastic nerfing early in 2008.
Well, now the situation is quite different due to a number of factors, not the least of which is player capability and the defensive measures added in Entrenchment. It was therefore neccessary to bring them back into the roster.
But we didn't stop at siege frigates. One of our primary objectives in this update is to make sure every unit is brought back into the pool of viable tools. In some cases this was as simple as modifying some data but in some cases we completely redesigned elements of them.
Naturally, trying to figure exactly what those changes needed to be was not an easy problem but one of the best ways was to play the game against as many players as possible so we once again took to playing regularly on Ironclad Online.
Unfortunately, we couldn't use our real names because when we did in the past we were the targets of unreasonable unholy alliances. Such circumstances aren't great for collecting data and analyzing strategies. Sorry for the smurfing but it was for a good cause
In addition to playing online we've spent a lot of time analyzing feedback on the forums, in particular the great thread by Deceiver_0.
In this thread he collected votes from everyone on a wide variety of issues and presented a consolidated place for ideas and potential fixes.
While we didn't agree with all the suggestions, we did attempt to address what we determined to be the underlying problems but in some cases we implemented the suggestions nearly verbatim.
Special thanks to everyone who contributed to that thread! Also, special thanks to everyone who wrote constructive posts or emails, we couldn't do this without you!
Enjoy!

annihilator27, officially there is a new diplomatic cruiser, but with an extra place holder shown in the cruiser/capital factories there might be an extra one, but officially ther is only one per race.

Do I spy me a diplomatic capital ship?
dont know if i should mention it here, but ive been seeing a bug when it comes to the constructer units. I was on a two system map and had tried to build a few broadcast centers to fortify my culture. I had the money and resources but for fifteen minutes the constructor units wouldnt not move. Not even if i gave them a command to move just a few meters in any direction they were locked in place. Eventually they did build the broadcast centers. About 3 hours later after I was able to push the AI out my System I commanded the constructers to build Novalith Cannons. Once again they didnt budge. Took another 15 minutes before they reacted to my commands.
I'm pretty new to this game, but after I updated my SOSE to v1.18, it seems to have disabled my launcher. Has anyone else had this problem? I can launch the game from Impulse, but my launcher program just appears on the toolbar and does nothing when I try to boot it.
herm... is the launcher a third party program? if so it is prolly trying to point to the old 1.17 version... you prolly need to do whatever it takes to set-up the launcher for sins again... but i dont know... just my best guess.
Speaking of things not building, anyone notice that if you research more than one fleet upgrade/capital ship number upgrade, none of the ships that you queue up will build until all the research you queued is done?
was wondering if there was a plan in place to fix the AI in heavily modified mods that add new races and research trees
or allow modders to adjust it
as it stands now the AI doesn't do research in these mods
making the game too easy even on unfair opponents
where did the change log for the progenator mothership go? i mean... in 1.81 it is nerfed... but... its not in the change log anymore?
I've seen this. The way to work around that is to never have a negative number for fleet supply in the build queue. Nothing will build until the fleet supply number is positive.
What mods (and maybe research) are you talking about? On the Star Wars Requiem mod the AI does at least some research.
we are able to, its in the gameconstants file, In the Distant Stars mod I had to modify the research AI up to 20 and the rest about 10 to 15
the Big mod from danman games

I have updated entrenchment to 1.41 version via impulse and can't run it! I always get black screen and couldn't do anything but to restart computer.
any help?
What did you upgrade from? Did you have any custom maps in your main Sins Galaxy folder (not the Application Data GalaxyForge folder)? If so, you need to remove them.
dirtysanchezz, the map format HAS not changed from 1.15,therefore the MAPS should not be the cause also sins/entrenchment IGNORE any maps that are NOT mapversion 3.
if a mod had been copied into the new version's mod folder without updating then that could cause these symptoms, as can a corrupted file,
but we need a bit more info about the computer specs & history ie which version(s) of sins/entrenchment were working and what steps were taken during and after the updating before running sins.
It's possible that he upgraded from v1.1 or v1.05. I was just "putting it out there" as something he might check into.
Entrenchment 1.40 worked fine, as same as Sins, problems have been occured after update of 1.41 version via impulse software, it was automatic update.
I have uninstalled both in meantime and now I'm downloading it again, hope to see better results.
How to donload the new version ?
i can not figure it out this
can someone tell me how to do this time ?
No, it just does not !
imperiator, just start impulse, check forr updates, then install updates
that is assuming you DO have internet to your gaming computer
THis is likely the wrong place to post this but I purchased the Entrenchment expansion a while back and have since had to format my PC. I would lke to get my game back now but I cannot find the location of where I dled it from. Help please.
Have you downloaded Impulse and attempted to get it through that?
