I am a new player to Demigod I just picked it up yesterday and was excited about the thought of lots of people playing online.
I tried the skirmish mode and waited for a good 10 minutes (this was around 9PM EST) and it just kept saying I was the only one looking for a game.
I then moved into custom games and there were only about 3-4 being hosted at a time. So I was able to play but I was wondering if there is some other place to get into games?
I figured this is still a pretty new game shouldn't there be more players somewhere?
Is everyone playing Pantheon games?
I will apologize as I went into a "pro" game as it was the only one available but we still won lol. I am catching on quickly and I have stopped joining pro games much to the "joy" of people on the forums I am sure (lol at least from what I've read about the anger of noobs joining pro games)
So I guess to sum it up, is there some sort of regional setting that I am missing out on and players group mostly in a particular region? Or maybe I need to open up ports or something in order to get the auto match option to work?
I play custom games. yea, it sucks to have only 3-4 games. I recommend you host your own custom game, call it 'newbie USA 3v3' or something similar.
Stay far far away from skirmish and pantheon mode.
No, Pantheon is almost as bad as Skirmish. It'll stick you with AI many times. Host a noobs custom game, or play against AI in single player till you've figured out the basics. Note that the AI sucks terribly, as they're trained to run away at like 1/3 health even if you're at like 5% health.
demigod right now is only custom games, there you find the real matches, at both pro and noob lvl
Yeah I've already been able to beat hard AI opponents and its just not as much fun lol
Coming from a DOTA background I always enjoyed playing against actual human opponents and I got to be pretty good. The AI was ok to dick around with but now its just too easy.
Was Demigod always only about the custom games? Did we lose a bunch of players or something?
Basically you've gotta host a game. There's lots of people just waiting to join other people's games at peak hours. Most new players won't host games so your choices are much poorer than they need to be.
Agreed. Host a game with a label like Noobs ONLY please.

Hosting your own games typically works out. A lot of people just sit around afraid to host for some reason.

The community has definitely gotten smaller recently, at least at the peak hours I play. Saddens me a bit.
Hopefully it picks up again with updates and whatnot.
Usually in my computer room, although thanks to the DRM Free state of Demigod, I sometimes play in my lounge room. The heating is better there.

It means he has it on more than one computor, probably refering to his labtop or something whereas he generally plays on his other computer.
But more than likely it could mean that the OP's question was awnsered and he felt like making a joke.

To actually answer, I play exclusively in the Custom Game area. Match Making usually drops me into a game with US players, where the latency destroys any chance of a good game.
I play custom games only. MP skirmish doesn't work for me, and starting a game in the patheon takes forever, in some cases literally.
