I wonder about the design decision to make deaths spawn potions. I don't understand why it's there, and I can't find a single reason for it to be that way. Can anyone explain to me why the are there (excpet to work with a side-effect of one of EB's skills).
thanks
people wont be happy until you get nothing but a pat on the back for killing your enemy. then we can farm creeps while totally ignoring eachother.
i like the pots and hope they stay. i also like the ablities that happen when a demigod dies.
1. The drop is not random, only what drops.2. They aren't stupid. A recent study into the intelligence level of inanimate objects revealed that glass bottles - usually used to house potions - are actually smarter than 65% of politicans and 97% of World of Warcraft players.3. They provide a mechanic for healing that enables players who take advantage of them to gain additional gold/xp through either staying on the field longer or by survivng a more difficult battle.4. Are you also unhappy with scrolls, or just potions?
you actually buy scrolls, so they are not a problem.
I think ZehDon ment when they drop scrolls?
its okay whiners will always find something to whine about
I don't understand this attitude. Does it make you feel smart or superioir in some way? This is not whine. I am curious about the design rationale behind this implementation. I have tried to contribute here, but this stops now. I'm so fed up with this attitude.
Twinsen, just ignore the trolls.
To address the issue of drops, I personally like them, but I can understand the point about it being random (hp pot or mana scroll). I suppose that one way to fix this would be to make it always be an hp pot (an that preserves Erebus' ability), what do you think of that? Would that solve the issue while not making too many other issues?
thank you.
Well, I'm not for or against it really, I'm not pushing for a change necessarily, I just find it strange. It resembles the drop you get from action-rpg, but if it's supposed to be given to the killer, why not give them the bonus togheter with xp and gold? This assumed of course that it's there to benefit the killer, which is unclear at this moment (conflicting rationales above)
I do have a list of things I would like to be changed, and this is not on it. That list I do not dare to share.
Is this post against randomness or against drops? Level 20 DGs drop rejuvenation potions 100% of the time, that give back both health and mana. If DGs always dropped rejuv potions which scaled up with DG level would that still bother you?
Neither, please read the OP, it's not very long.
The original question was simply 'why?' the mechanic exists in the first place. What problem it was intended to fix. What it was meant, by the devs, to encourage in the game.
Notes about randomness and such were added by the rest of us.
hey twinsen my post wasnt at you it was at stacked
and hey legolan ive made valid posts in this thread about supporting drops learn to actually use the term troll when its appropriate instead of at someone whoes been in the thread for a while now trying to argue for either the pro or con side of a choice on something okay thanks?
I guess speed and action are the same thing to you. I give up.
So I guess it depends on your definition of action.
Sorry if I came of rude, I interpreted you that way because you asked if "this post" was for or against I just assumed you ment the Original Post. So far opinions both ways have been expressed.
you have played a total of 3 games of demigod. imo your opinion is invalid on this topic.
sorry, just felt like whining.
regardless of wether i play online or off isnt important and thats why i never claimed to be smarter on the game than you i even stated i had less knowledge more than likely in a post so your just furthering my point
also how many games would you like me to play before my opinion on a game mechanic becomes valid wether its against an AI or human a poiton/scroll will drop buddy
it is important when your opinion is based off experience in single player when it is a multiplayer based game.
your becoming like me whining.
cant argue with you on that i know its a mostly MP game however ive played more than 3 games i just dont do pantheon very often
and i was asking you how many games you'd like me to play for my opinion to be considered valid not going against what you said at all
true, you have played 7
and that gives me any less of an opinion on something that occurs multiple times throughout a game wether its offline or online? P.S. sorry if that sounds offensive cant tell if your taking a jab at me or just proving a point
To clarify before this escalates. It was about the context. Stacked told you he didn't think you played enough games, 3. You said you played more, just not pantheon. It sounded like you only played 3 pantheon, but 300 custom games or so. I pointed out that you played 7. Not to invalidate your opinion, not to bash, but if stacked didn't think 3 was enough, 7 wouldn't either.
I don't say I'm on stacked side here, but he has a point. One way for you to please stacked would be to claim that you played several hundred offline games over Lan or something against good players. AI is no measure of anything. I have gotten 43 kills in a game on nightmare campaign with Rook. That's how wierd AI is.
But still I'm not a good player.
