Seems virtually all rook players now use fast rook style. Is that the new "In" thing?
Call me noob but what is the fast rook style?
fast Rook = Boots of Speed + Swift Anklet ???
Oh thanks for explaining.
god I hope not.rook will never be "fast"boots of speed take you up to 5.9 -> everything can still out-run youanklets take you up to 6.2 -> UB + ere can still outrun you, sedna has move speed, TB has move speed, oak has penitence, reg has maim etc.if you buy BOTH items, you are sacrificing A LOT of hp - and if they buy 1 speed item they will STILL out-run you.THE ONLY speed item that is worth taking as rook is wand of speed, because a ) it is very cost effective and b ) it doesn't take up a slot of a hp item, a 25% speed boost only when you need it is very powerful if used properly.if you stack speed as a rook vs me, i will pummel your hp down to 2k then roll + slam and you are toast. or you can always run away from me and i will dominate the map. choice is yours ^^
What ShakenBake said its true, Going speed rook is losing rooks advantage all together, i mean whats the point of going speed if you still need a stunned enemy to hit hammer slam or you need an enemy in your tower farm to be able to win.
Rook is not about where you can go but where you can make the enemy go, and when you are slow and you are running they seem to get this false confidence and just go and atack you, i prefer my slow rook, speed dosent give me any good advantage and im sacrificing a slot for my BotF and money for my armor/hp.
I hate to say it but people that go rook speed are noobs, cause they will always outrun you, going in a battle of speed against a sedna is tupid, she is the fastest character in the game, going against ub and erebus in a battle of speed is equally stupid cause they got 2nd best speed and also slows, and all other characters are the same you will always lose in speed.
I've played against exactly 1 "fast rook" in the past 3 weeks and that was yesterday. The player was very new to the game.
I think it depends on the map and your team and your own play style. I play rook defensively (tower build with lots of hp and structural transfer) on maps such as cataract, but on bigger maps, I like to be in the mix and be able to stay with the enemy longer as they run away, so I will typically not go with a tower build and instead go with speed and dps (hammer, stun, buffs, arrows).
Anyways, that's just how I play, and usually switch them around depending on how I feel like playing.
A fast rook sucks in my opinion, because speed items work percentular.
I play erebus a lot and I know the game is going to be a cake walk anytime I walk out with more HP than rook. The only thing Rook should think about sacrificing for HP is potentially Teleport Ammy instead of Blood of Fallen. (of course rook should also have tele scrolls), this lets him RTB and get back to his tower farm without it disappearing on him... Speed rook is for noobs
I always go speed rook, it's the best. Just dash in, hit their towers with structural transfer and then dash out. Be sure to get stats so you have crazy armor and autoattack damage.
If you want "fast" rook, imo just get the teleport favor item. You can use it to teleport back to base or to one of your towers you pulled up.
why waste a favor slot when u can buy a cheap item which has a shorter cooldown (talking about teleport ability).its **** posts like in this thread that actually keep me playing games every now and then, so I can join some random custom or pantheon game and stomp 3k speed demons or whatever the **** they want to try with my 8k hp and 50% armor p.s. I hate erebus + UB vs dual rook 2v2. no chance of winning an encounter until at least level 7 had several games vs this combo recently QQ
Regarding teleport favor item, it depends what you're doing with Rook. If you're playing an ambush build (i.e. watching flag and towers for an opportunity to tele/roll/slam) then having the favor item is worth it. You can easily teleport 4-5 times on a single trip out from you shop which is going to use up 2 slots and cost 1,000+ gold. It gives you an extra consumable slot which can be used for a Wand of Speed, Magus Rod, or Orb of Defiance, depending on your play style. Considering the Orb of Defiance is roughly equivalent to BotF and costs as much as 15 teleport scrolls, if you're planning to teleport more than 15 times, you might consider the tele favor item. But again, that depends on what your build is trying to do. In many other Rook builds, BotF is the better choice.
well from a RPG stance it makes sense: make ur biggest weakness you greatest strength. i'm been in way to many situation were an oak or erebus hunted me down from basicly full HP just because i couldn't run away fast enough. i find that with rook boots is a must have item at least if only to bring his speed up to the rest of the DG's.
as far as stacking speed i think it probably better suited to someone like Ice TB so u can really gang up on people. With rook it think its more for the Hit and Run tactics
The thing is, you're playing to your weakness. And you'll never be better. Even if you go anklet and boots of speed, that's only around 6.3/6.2 (based on other people's calcs). This means that a UB that points one point in inner beast (I think that's what it is called -- my memory is blanking) will always outrun you. Without spending a dime on speed.
That of course allows him to go for BotF and hp/dps gear. In other words, by stacking speed, you make it so you're no faster than your opponent, but significantly weaker.
i agree with everything said here. anyone who plays rook a lot knows to avoid situations where he/she ends up being chased by say UB or something because 9/10 times u won't stand a chance with speed. when ur sitting in lane farming and u see a fed UB coming ur way u should definately be either TP'in or running like hell. if its running (for what ever reason) that little but or extra speed can be life or death when running away. even if UB is faster then u if u'r closer to his speed then it will still take longer for him to catch, in which time a buddy can TP in... or u can get tower support.. or something.
that why i said its more for hit and run tactics... emphasis on the run part
