I have been a bystander reading these forums but never posting. I guess I decided it was time to break my silence after reading so many complaints in these forums over the last few months. I mean some folks complain more than my 3 year old and that is saying somthing. Constructive critism is one thing, but the "toxic" atmosphere Ihave been seeing in some posts is crazy.
My post is just to say that for me Demigod is awesome. There are few games that I pick up and just keep playing. I did not even finish Fallout 3. It is half way done and still sitting on my PC. I could not finish Resident Evil 5. Just somthing did not hold me onto that game. Each person is different and I respect that. Some will never like Demigod ad will keep moaning about this feature not right or that glitch not fixed. But there are some of us who love this game. Few games have held my interest for months at a time. The battlefield series, the Final fantasy series, Mario world when I was a kid, and Demigod are ones that pop right in my head.
So for all those putting your hard work into this game, I appreciate it and I am sure may others do too. Every game needs it patches and tweaks, but you guys are working on this despite the negativity that comes out of these forums. That is more than I can say for many games.
I total agree with u!!!!!!!
I honestly think most of the DG community is on your side here bud, and is doing the same thing you were. I myself only came to the forums to see strats and try and join a guild. But now I think those that actualy appreciate the game and are content with the support SD is giving it, should speak up and just give an Internet Five (lulz he only has one finger) to the Frogman and SD for putting up with some of this forum shit.
Got a tech prob? send it to support@stardock.com
Got a design prob? send it over to GPG
I agree. Frankly, I think everyone is way overboard on complaining, complaining and complaining some more, and in most cases, not in a productive way.
Lately I too hqave been doing more lurking than posting, because I see no point in joining in on these hate threads, hell I read less and less thanks to them.
This irritates me too, as this game is great and like you said holds my attention like no other game I have played for years. I was in beta, so I have been playing this game for a year now. I hope people stop with making this commmunity toxic, so that people can see this game for what it is, an awesome fun game that can cntinue to grow and improve.
You can have a karma as soon as you grow me 4 more fingers!
But seriously, for all the kiddies complaining, you need to grow up, or go outside.
I have been the same with very few posts other than to tell people to stop all the complaining and flaming. I totally agree with your post.

As myself being one of the people who fell into the "toxic" trap.
I think the community sees this game's potential to be a something amazing(possibly a classic), but we're forced to sit here and watch it all go down the drain. Failed potential is a terrible thing, and probably causes the emotions we see on this board.
But nothing is going down the drain. Progress is being made and desired features are being added. Work has not stopped.
Frogboy is alreay holding a gun(contract) to GPG's head to get these patches out. Next year, do you really think we'll see any patches or new content? Frogboy said as far as GPG is concerned the game is done and they're happy with it. Everything they wanted to be in the game is in it.
I find your posts to be quite ironic in a thread titled "Positive Attitudes". Are you only here as long as there is new content produced continuously?
I was replying to Myles. My original post was just what I thought.
I couldn't care less about new content
If in a year we don't have clan support, modding, better friends options, more maps, more Demigod's(12ish?), and better seperation between hardcore and casual players then I will be concered. However, I expect that in less time then that we will have all these features and anything after that is just a bonus. IMO, with a little polish to multiplayer options and fixing all the minor bugs, this game will be damn near perfect and not much new content will be needed in a year, expecially if the modding commumity can take off.

And i'd like to play with the guys with good attitudes aswell.
There's such a thing as a crappy premade. Look at WoW, WC3, and pretty much any other ladder, it's a skill pyramid where the system tests players by matching them against opponents higher and and lower ranked than themselves to see where they belong in the rankings. Currently though you have high skill level players seeing each other very rarely, so much so that the vast, vast, majority of games are against much, much less skilled/organized opponents. That's not a good thing but that doesn't mean there should be some kind of artificial segregation.
That being said the mechanics and graphics here are fantastic. It's a great game and if certain changes were made it could be a true classic, so that's part of why people complain so emphatically.
I used to come to these board alot more during beta. Now I just read the journal entires and that's about it.
Perhaps I worded it poorly, but I don't want forced seperation, but the ability to be better marched up with players who play the way you prefer. Right now it's basically up to the whim of the gamer to decide if he wants to properly name a custom game and hope that they gets what they ask for.
This. It's just so disappointing to realize how to make this good game so much better but there's no response from GPG, and we feel helpless.
I realize it's too soon and that it's not remotely feasible, but it's gut feeling on the game's status.
You know competitive latters is completely possible for us as a community to handle ourselves. Most games usually dont have built in clan support other than maybe a clan tag.
All we would need is a website where clans could be registered.
Someone willing to update it and keep track.
And participation.
Whoever ran the site could have clans register for tournaments and then easy as pie we solved some of the main issues ourselves. And we could eaily keep track of who actually won using the official stats and game page.
Just food for thought for any html savvy peeps.
Doesnt need to be pretty just functional.
I don't really even see why you need clans at all, just teams. Handling clans seems way more complicated than just handling teams, but my most recent experience is from WoW where I equate clans to guilds which can be affiliated with specific teams but still quite seperate.
It seems extremely complicated when you have clans of different sizes.
Obscenitor your posts have been very well as of recent theres very few things I disagree with you on. Especially considering the past.
hey, I have an idea, why don't we create a "clan" for all the positive normal, non-crappy pc, non-retard people. You know, for the guys that enjoy this game. Everyone adds clantag in his/her name(or when we have clansupport it will be added) and you will be assured they are of "good quality", good connection, good pc, not rude, atleast average player, etc.
The reason there is a lot of complaining right now is becasue the community is going through growing pains. Many people have gone through their "casual" play phase where its fine to just jump in a random game and play with random people. They are trying to get to a more competitive phase where they play with an organizaed team against other organized teams. Its kind of natural that people will be wanting to move to that after a few months of play.
The problem is that the game doesnt have the mechanisms for anything other than casual play.
That wasnt a problem right away because you dont need a big automatching system a few weeks after a game is released. But you do kind of need it now.
In any case, I dont think that all the whining about the complaints is helping. Running around and accusing of everybody of being toxic and pretending that every criticism of the state of the game is like murdering Frogboy's firstborn isnt making the forums or the game a better place either. People are going to have complaints about a game like DG (awesome game, should be a classic, but is missing on a few key points), and those complaints are going to show up on the General Forums. Live with it. Complaining about complainers just makes things worse and makese things seem even more toxic than they are.
If you want to discuss the gameplay itself, there are forums for that that have almost no complaining about the games (the Multiplayer and DG Strategy forums). Go there and post there instead of complaining about complainers
Toxicity must be put into barrels.. whilst positive feedback must be put on the table. At least I'd say..
