there is a delay in this game about 1 second. so when i right click the ground, my hero would move 1 second after... this is really critical to my game play.
is the game supposed to be like this? is there a fix for this?
im using xps m1530 with dual processor 2.00 GHz and 3gb ram and 126 mb of video card memory (32 bit vista home premium). i read somewhere that i needed to disable sound so i did but it didnt reduce my delay
have u asked if your fellow players are having similar problems... since Demigods is peer to peer what ever u see and feel in game everyone else feels the game. if there is a one sec delay it might be from a desync or something and my advise is to go to the Problem Reports Section and post the debug file there and email their support.
if that doesn't work try taying off any mind altering drugs or chemicals and take a break from the caffine for a while, sometimes our mind perceives fractions of seconds as hours when we're under a bit of stress (or a webpage isn't loading)
this happened to me in single player skirmish mode so i don't know why it wouldnt happen to me in multiplayer mode
also im not on drugs and my mind was fresh when i felt the delay
im thinking that every1 has this delay because my game is a fresh install
if its happening in single player it might be a video problem... u said u had a 126 mb graphic card (which isn't top notch but should still run the game) so try update ur drivers to start and if that doesn't work then its debug and report time (at which point it's in GPG ballpark)
Demigod has a built in 350ms delay. If you are used to fast twitch games it is quite noticeable.
with out the delay the information might not get threw quick enough
i don't think that its my video card's fault because before /nosound, i was a little laggy with a delay but after /nosound, the movement is smooth but delay is still there.
350ms delay?? wow that seems so much because im so used to 50-100ms delay which is the regular dota with listchecker host or delay reducer, so shadow ur right i only played games with fast reactions so i can feel the delay..
is there a program or fix that will lower the delay?
but that is what u get for a more complex game with lazy devs
Just report si1foo, maybe he'll get banned eventually .
@slappingmama: as already pointed out, Demigod uses a default net_lag of 350 ms (meaning that every order will be executed after 350 ms in game time). It may be possible to change it with a mod, but I think there is none so far.
Some default lag values of other games for comparison:
so the 0.1s cast time Ice TB spells actually take 0.45s from when you click? that would explain why its so damn hard to interrupt skills such as mines or heal..
i have made a few star trek legacy models so yes i have and i have made models in less then a week which were very good quality and i only spent about 7-10 hours on each (not per day)
@colonen_jessep
350 ms isn't much and that muich of a delay sdoesn't effect the game pklay and if u had it at a 0 sec delay as in as quick as possible then the people with slower computers would get owned or out moved because u moved fasters
mines are easy to interupt with pent but a close range inter it is hard as hell
One of many strange aspects of Demigod's design. The number of skills that can be interrupted through luck alone is frustrating to be generous.
That's not a strange aspect of Demigod's design. Latency is just something you have to deal with in every game. And 350 isn't that much. It's still between WarCraft 3's LAN latency of 100 ms and Supreme Commanders latency of 500 ms.
OMG I only just noticed it properly today, if you click back and forward on the ground to move, you can really see the delay! It's not generally noticeable, I didn't really notice it until now, but if you compare to any other game where the reaction on screen is almost instant, it feels like a REALLY long delay for your demigod to follow commands And yeah 0.45 seconds to interrupt something with deep freeze! WTF! Thats why its been so hard!
My point is more that you have a bunch of skills that can't be interrupted without a large amount of luck. No matter how fast your reactions are it's impossible to interrupt pounce or heal through skill alone, you have to guess. That's bad for anything you want to play competitively imo, that kind of lucky break (interrupting heal) is what decides games.
It would suck if you could reliably interrupt every skill, any time.
I am sure cast times of skills have been chosen with net_lag in mind.
you would think a spell with a 1 second cast should be able to easily be interrupted by one with a 0.1 second cast though...SUPRISE!
Oak has even more time.
Though I wouldn't think that Rook's boulder roll would be able to interrupt an enemy skill with 1 second cast on sight, except in close combat.
Actually, some players can use the interrupps very well. I've encountered an Oak player who interrupted my UB 'Welcome to the party!' spit a few times because he anticipated it. The first time I thought it was luck, the second time I became suspicious, the third time I waited for his Penitence before spitting.
thats because pen has a slightly larger range than spit, so whenever he saw you charging at him he would use it, and it "just so happens" to interrupt spit right before it is cast.the cooldown on pen is pretty annoying, they can keep a fireball permanently locked down vs a TB
Quite possible. I have trouble interrupting Sednas healing or other 0.3 second abilities too. On the other hand, if you could reliably interrupt Sednas healing... Speaking of Sedna, I find her Pounce interrupt even more annoying than than Penitence. At least Oak cannot heal all the damage you did every 7 seconds. One interrupted Spit isn't too bad if you have enough Ooze.
well i can reliably interrupt as in "wait for her to use it, count to 3, then use deep freeze" then she cant use it for 5-7 seconds, but generally it is not possible to burst her down in that short amount of time.
dude having 350 ms is nothing think about it this way every player has it so it basically makes the time longer and the predcting ur enermty ub spit is easy u use pent about 0.5secs after he gets in range
ub has a 0 or almnost 0 cast for spit so if no people could interupt it then it would be really annouying
Not sure if you have fixed this yet or not... but if you are still having this problem, give this a try. Go to your game options and under video settings. If your Vertical Sync is on, change it to off... if it is off, change it to on. See if this helps you. May be a cause, may not be, but you can give it a shot.
