Most people refuse to play against teams that has 2 or more heroes of the same class. They say that it is not balanced. That 2 of the same hero is too good. I assume they mean 2 of any same hero because I have never heard of any exceptions.
I have great trouble to understand why double hero is unbalanced. Each hero is fairly balanced and their combinations are fairly balanced aswell but combining 2 of the same type is unbalanced. How can this be?
Double regulus is unbalanced because of the mines and snipe, double UB is unbalanced because of the double spit... Lets assume this is the case. Why is not single spit and mines and snipe good? What is wrong with that combination?
There has to be something I have missed because I can not imagine that so many people are so damn stupid, that they would just assume that double is unbalanced because it is easier to comprehend the power, or perhaps so damn emotionally impared that they desperatly want to blame their loss on something (anything).
If they are indeed unbalanced I want to know why.
Lots of good answers to why its not imbalanced has already been given, but I'm going to contribute with (maybe) the best one.
Regardless of how imbalanced/not imbalanced this is there are still only 8 demigods to choose from. If you play in a 4v4 game with randoms, chances are that another player will also pick your favourite, say that you haven't played that long, do you really want to give up your new found favourite, because of doubles?
Really, some people just have the same taste, hence they will play the same character. LIVE WITH IT.
If you don't play smart 4 regs can focus fire snipes and kill you (again shield for the win). But if you play closer to your end of the map, if one person is engaging the regs 1 or 2 of them will have to focus on protecting the reg when they should be sniping the other one.
Reg is more a harrassing character then anything else...
You have to be realistic tho, how often will 4 regulus'es (wat) snipe you? And IF they would, they sure would have lost a fair amount of hp/creeps/tower/flags etc to your 3 friends by taking you down, thats some seriously pricy harassment right there.
I once played with UB+Sedna+Oak against 3 x Regulus, we had NO problem taking them down. In the end they lost way too much against creeps, they are all ranged, and with some speed on a melee unit, a regulus player who isnt a very good mine-spammer wont be a big problem.
Snipe can easily be nullified by a heal from Sedna.
If you have a 4 player team with 2 skilled Regulus players you could get in some nice kill moments with snipe yes, but I really wouldn't say it superior to one of those skilled player switching to another class (unless its queen ^^)
I agree with Muffinsoda. For 4 Regs to snipe in Unisince your team really has to be coordinated (it is do-able but very unlikely-come on guys, proof me wrong )
The Regs would seriously have to know there stuff and lets face it, they arent exactly the best tanks are they. As a variation I would something play REG and I must admit the well timed finish snipe (especial when the enemy is bust charging his teleport up and I take him out as he spawns at the crystal)is awesome and well worth taunting your lan buddies .
Either way, doubles isnt a problem. Like I said before, if everyone is Lord erebus then you know more or less know what you expect from him and counter it. Mana is his biggest problem so If you take some mana stealing item then some of his most baddest toys are taken from him.
The secret is just know your opponent and COUNTER.
Long live the OAK
a coordinated premade over voice com could snipe with 4 regs pretty easely.. I dont see it happening, but thats not the hard part. The thing is, is it a problem ? ok.. late game snipe fnally hurts a bit so if you dont stack hp they could almost (or can they?) one shot you.
I don't know if anyone else thought about this, but if you are getting hit by two snipes or two spits and dying, you are being attacked two enemies different enemies that happen to be the same character. You are likely to die if they weren't the same character anyway and you couldn't get away. It's not a problem with double classes being unbalanced, it's just that 2v1 never really going to end well and the fact that the enemy is using two of their players to take out one means your other allies have 2 less enemies to deal with.
Soultwister has it down.
It's not strange that you're taking a bad beating from 2x unclean beast, but believe me it would suck just as much with one beast + one regulus.
Do people still seriously think they are underpowered if they cant take on 2 players at once? or do they simply stare themselves blind at the fact they are facing doubles, and forgets there are TWO enemies?
I have played me and 2 friends (3v3) premade with 3 regs. I have to say it is broken at level 1, and only applifies into the late game. Essentially your opponents cannot lose any hp in there lane for fear of being triple sniped, which is 900 - 1500 damage every 15 seconds. When your in a room with each other it's very easy to do.
If 1 opponent doesn't stack health out of the gate (like an erubus doing minion build, or sedna / oak taking monks) you can literally ping them with a few auto attacks then tripple snipe for the kill. Lets not also forget the possibility of all 3 reguli taking heavens wrath. Thats a 2250 damage spike on command to any 1 target.
People say to counter, some things are way to cheese to counter, especially on certain maps. 3 Regulus on cataract can be a very difficulty battle. If you make a single mistake and they all get an assist on you, the game degrades really fast. Even regulus can stack HP, and when there whole team is getting 500 - 1000 gold every 30 or so seconds it will be GG.
------------
I will write that even with 3 regulus on the field, there are viable ways to stop the game from being lost from the gates. Choosing characters with inherrently high stats, and then getting health items with a potion and a teleport can really turn the tides in your favor. Regulus has no interupt so teleports are his bane. Health pots for 275 can save you a 30 second death screen and prevent your enemies from gaining a 2k gold advantage. Getting +400 hp from the gates tends to have a better effect as you don't auto loose getting onto the field. BoTF is actually a good favor item for this purpose.
In the end though, only 1 teammate has to go a general with monks to ruin the game. In all other circumstances monks are the bread and butter of this game, but with 3 regulus your 1800 hp pool is going to be torn to shreads in under 3 seconds, and literally an assault from the crystal for an auto kill will have each regulus going onto the field with a second level and some much better gear than the opposition.
This is exactly right. The only reason doubles seem unbalanced is because the people who are complaining sit there and say "2x *insert skill* is imba! There is no way you (singular) could counter two of those spells!" All they are doing is saying that two demigods beat one demigod. There is no problem with doubles, just with the people who can't realize that their calcs are retarded.
Doooood...I am soooooo l33333t that I should be able to take on 2 demigods without blinking...when I can't its obviously IMBA!
/sarcasm off
It's imbalanced because
a) generally forces you to counter their skills to win (for example, multisnipe means you have to be able to stay at high health as much as possible to avoid giving the other team heaps of gold, which is in turn quite hard to do with multimine or even just snipe spamming), which isn't always possible by the time their plan is revealed to you (certain characters and especially builds will get owned if you aren't prepared in advance, but preparing in advance for some cheesey strategey can put you at a disadvantage if they don't go for it)
confusion when dealing with said character, since it usually takes a lot more time to distinguish between them, which can mean the low-health one gets away, or you're prepared for the tank and then get killed by the dps one, etc
ok if you get 2 spits in same time.... it gets really fxxked up!!
If you get Spit and Fireballed it hurts just as much.
Until you use your scroll of restoration and remove both of them taking only 300 damage
I think it's pretty simple - if you don't mind doubles, then host your own games and allow doubles.
If you don't like doubles, don't play with doubles. Nobody's forcing you to do EITHER.
Personally, I don't like doubles, because every game I've been in where there's doubles, everybody generally stacks UB or Erebus. No variety, no fun.
why is it so much '3reg imba' simply get some speed items, meaning they cant hunt you down with auto attack... stack some health, you can really easily get 4k health early on, this should be simple to raise to 6k when they hit 1k snipe...
then just take flags, farm reinfocements...whenever you see a vournable lone reg chase it away, remember taht you should have speed in beginning as that allows you to retreat... (well in the beginning you shouldnt fight them as they can snipe you for allot of damage)...
take QoT/Sedna/Oak/UB(with slowdown, and sameel's cloak (to limit slowdown from mines lategame))
and you should be able to stay alive and thus win.
Well, fella. I will tell you what. You and a buddy log into the game and play as 2 rooks against 2 unclean beasts. I will bet that your rear end hurts from the thrashing you get. That is an unbalanced game. It takes a bit for a rook to level up to be able to deal with the pure speed of that character. Any time you wish to test your theory, since you seem to think people are idiots that do not share your view..then contact me and we will load the old game up and see what happens.
Ironrock, is that more a doubles issue or a "UB is good against Rook" issue?
Well 4 regulus using snipe at the same time and then Heavens Wrath favour item on top of that insta-kills anything, im pretty sure even a 3 regulus team does.
Could be fixed with a 5-10 sec snipe immunity after a snipe.
3 Reg is max. 2,4K at level 1 so if you pick BotF and a health item at the start it's not quite an instantkill, but it's very close and a few shots or mines closes the gap.
