Maybe I'm crazy but I have not been able to find anything what so ever pertaining to the combat system in the game. It certainly would be nice to see a dev journal about it.. Is there something I missed?
If you look at the center button between the hourglass (which could be a wait type button) and the quill writing on parchment (which could be a save button) it has the symbol for magic (life / death) so I assume that is the button you would press to use spells during combat. I also find it interesting that it is gold in that screenshot while it is black on the webpages. Perhaps when that symbol is gold it means life and when it is black it means death or vice versa? Just some food for thought but I would also question the validity of this screenshot since originally Stardock didn't want that published or whatever.
Well, the symbol has arrows surrounding it, which makes me think it might be a camera control, but it could be either one. However, generally when you turn a sand timer over, that means that it either starts or resets timing... I didn't think of being able to SAVE tactical battles.... that would be interesting, but not terribly useful......
If combat is planned to be lengthy at all (for example, anything like M2:TW's combat), I would love to be able to save during combat. I've had to stop in the middle of a battle and quit to desktop many times in that game, and being able to pick up where I left off would be very nice.
Saving during combat would also make it so that the tension would be completely gone. I would be very very much opposed against that.
umm, if you don't want to save during combat what exactly would stop you from not saving? I disagree that a save option during tactical combat would reduce tension in the game. If tactical battles can take an hour or more a save option would be a great idea.
I very much agree with both your points here.
