To keep it short and sweet any thoughts about setting up a grading system where one can be graded from say 1 being the best to a 10 being for just a noob. That way games would be more evenly matched and create some more interest in enticing more people to play online. This multiplayer game needs help and i ask if tis a reasonable consideration for the experienced players to see what they can do for the game what the game has done for them, this is a great game online admit it !!! but can be so much better...Any thoughts if any just wanting to see the reaction.......any suggestions yay put em in....
Ravenous, have you played in the pug matches--the games where people go to Team 10 and two captains pick the teams? The entire purpose of that system is to try to get balanced teams. I think that what you are saying is a good idea, though. It would be nice if they had a system akin to Battle.net where players match up based on skill. However, with the current small online player base I doubt it would work even if the program were set up.
Perhaps the best advice is to look at players' Games Played-Wins record and to use that as an indicator of skill and to try to play in pug matches or to politely request that teams be balanced. You could also host games with titles like, "New Players" or "Intermediate Skill".
I totally agree with you. Sometimes I manage to get a couple of hours of free time and I would like to take a Sins game. But then I sign to ICO and for setting up a 4v4 or 5v5 game you can be easily 40 minutes waiting half time waiting for players and the other hal time deciding teams.
PUG is not an option. Better players are tired of always being the ones to choose and even then there's a lot of time wasted arranging the game.
For me the solution is very simple. Implement an ELO like system for the players in Sins like the chess players have. For every game, the rating of the contenders could be the mean of the ratings on each team.
This will have several benfits:
regarding centurionjixa: centurion pugs fail becuase people smurf and when the main advocate of pug matches smurfs to you have to wonder haha.
regarding ancencu: and just so you know having smurfing severely discouraged will never stop it. you jsut need to crack down and have one account per cd key. IF you have a brother, or sibling thast too damn bad...
also.. people could ruin their rank inentionally to get put on a better team. This kind of thing would never be able to work without a staff member of ironclad dedicated to making teams... and we know they won't do that lol

Why should IC do something about it if noone seems to take any interest in it..?
I just posted this in Nightraider's thread, but it's probably worth posting it here as well.
Should these skill lists grade players based on different aspects of the game? For example, a grade for the following categories:
Offensive Ability
Defensive Ability
Rushing Ability
Ability to Hold off or Respond to a Rush
Economy
Micromanagement Ability
Sandwich Ability and Recovery (how does a player respond to starting out between 4 opponents with 2 on each side or starting out as the guy facing a 3-on-1 in the large random multistar map?)
I think pugs are still very viable and I enjoy playing them because I feel that the teams are balanced or at least as balanced as they can get. It also ends arguments over the team balance.
Being captain can be a large amount of pressure and you have to have some confidence in yourself because, as captain, you are your own first pick. If your team loses will everyone blame you for having made bad picks? You also have to feel confident that you stack up well against the other captain. This problem is not new; in the Unreal Tournament community where 5-on-5 capture-the-flag pug matches are set up on Internet Relay Chat, a program called the pugbot manages the pug signup and team selection process, and if two people don't volunteer to be a captain in 30 or 60 seconds, it automatically picks two people based on an accumulated record of players' average draft pick positions (so that the captains are of about equal skill).
In spite of all that, pugs are still very popular and viable and it's difficult to find a 5v5 pug where someone isn't in the pug channel asking to be let into the game; people are breaking down the doors to get into them.
If you had read the other thread, you would have seen that I said that the smurf I use has an established record and had one before I started pugging with it and that I'm either captain or drafted in the appropriate spot (one of the top 3 picks). My main player name is not always first pick either and I'm getting drafted at the same spots my main name would get drafted at. It's really not that hard to undestand.
Pugs don't really need an advocate anymore at this since they have been popular for a couple months now and would go on without me. I understand that the pugs are not perfect, but as things stand right now, there aren't any better options other than imbalanced TvB teams or for people to squable over who should be on what team. Maybe you have a better idea?
Now this is a good point, but as far as I know, no one has done this.
Triple post. Does this qualify for bonus karma?
As a matter of fact, yes, why yes it does.
wow.. four of the last five posts. thats so freakin epic.
Spam if you can.
Done. Next goal would be mega post, monster post and godlike post!
It goes:
Killing Spree
Rampage
Dominating
Unstoppable
Godlike
Wicked Sick
smurfing would be solved if the win loss ratio was for the entire account, and not just the player name?
just a stupid idea.
