Absolutely!
In fact, no other company has left such a strong impression on me since the days of pre-WoW Blizzard. The bad launch may turn out to be a good omen, Stardock has earned some serious street cred for sticking it out and not leaving us hanging.
Thanks to everyone at Stardock, and thanks to their families for putting up with the long hours!
I don't tend to hold grudges against companies, it doesnt really make sense. If they release more good products I will purchase them, if they don't then I wont. Always try before you buy...
I do. When I fork out money for a multiplayer game, and it gets tossed onto gamespy like a piece of garbage and forgotten about, I do not purchase from that studio/publisher again.
Stardock has gone above and beyond, and I will buy their products in the future simply because I believe in supporting good companies. They are rare these days.
I will definately be more picky.
They just can't cope with companys like blizzard, relic etc.
Agreed, Stardock has shown an unbelievable determination to see this game through.
i will, but ill wait afew months after the game comes out until i buy.
elemental is looking awesome
You all obviously haven't played Sins of the Solar Empire or the space conquest turn based games Galatic Civilizations I and II
Stardock belongs to one of my favourite game developers/publishers besides Blizzard and 1C Company (russian studios, making good old turn based games).
Taking into consideration how hard they've worked to fix the bugs & the amount of feedback they've given us...
I will DEFINATELY support Stardock in the future!
Only ONLY if the particular product interest me.
Being a fan/follower is pointless imo.
Though I think stardock might be worth investing if I got the money.
At the end of the day all the effort they make isn't as important to me as the final result. If after all their efforts, the game still isn't fixed after 6months-1year then that will leave a very black mark against the developers and publishers and I'd be unlikely to purchase anything from them again. I just don't have the time or inclination for sitting around and waiting for something to be fixed "soon" or "in the near future".
I don't buy publisherss ....
I buy products.
As for OP's question: Yes, I will buy Stardock products in the future - if I find them interesting. Their new game looks like it might be something for me. I wont preorder again though, the last 2 month were a little too exciting for my taste...
I'd probably buy them but only if support for DG will still be there in 2010. That goes for all publishers actually. I hate it when studios promise everything (SD is not a studio, I know), deliver a halfassed product and then move on to their next product. I do not demand bugless products at launch, no product is bugless. But it's about fixing the things the community asks for that matters. (so far SD is doing a great job, GPG I'm not sure yet..)
I definitely wont not buy games from them.
wont not = will?
Also I've supported Stardock for long when they sold Desktop stuff!
Vyper:
Yep Gamespy is turd, but that often has little to do with the publisher. Stardock might release a game using Gamespy one day, if its a good singleplayer game I'd still buy it
considering i bought DoW:soulstorm and couldn't even get it to work thanks to DRM, no help from EA and no offer of refund... yeah i'll continue to get my fix from people who understand what gaming's about.
From Stardock, yes. From GPG? debatable. I don't like the fact that they are not talking to us. I want to know what the future of this game is going to look like. How many more demigods are planned, balance changes, more maps or community kits for us to add maps/mods. I really like this game but it is getting boring and the all round feeling is that GPG are more interested in SupCom2 and barely put effort into Demigod. They could release hotfixes alot faster for all the small bugs and exploits that really need to be ironed out.
I don't know if this feeling is correct, but until I see a GPG rep come talk to us in one way or another then for me they are just a faceless company.
I agree. And the thing is that it's easy for them to release small hotfixes, as the Impulse client takes care of it all. A 600 kb patch takes the lesser part of 2 minutes from start to finish, and it'll relieve the pressure off of all the complaints here.
GPG has posted a few a times in the forums, but yes it's not much. Also, GPG has their own website they post in.
http://forums.gaspowered.com/
You guys should go get active in the DemiGod Forums there and make suggestions etc.
Valid point, were it not that the demigodthegame.com website links to this forum. So I think it is a valid idea to expect GPG to atleast read and respond to these fora.
Yes, I have never been in a community where devs are so active, honest and like to share info as much as this before.
valve is better than stardock
but i love demigod so... maybe... we will see how much they care about demigod in the future..
I'll still be buying products that appeal from both Stardock and GPG. Supreme Commander has been my RTS of choice since it released and despite the connection issues (which I've been largely unaffected by), Demigod is still one of my more entertaining distractions these days. Elemental and SupCom 2 are both high on my want-to-play list.
Another vote for supporting Stardock (though I dunno that I'll get elemental). Love their policy towards DRM, man did they work hard (especially for being just the publisher) to fix the launch issues, and I semi-believe them when they say the game wasn't rushed out; they just didn't know how poorly the licensed network libraries would scale. (However, they did know they were releasing a skirmish-style game that didn't support FFA, replays, or custom maps... hence the "semi")
