As I have said in the subtitle for this post, I am having a little trouble with the graphics in Aramda and probably maybe Armada 2 (haven't installed it yet)
Either my screen is flickering when I am in campaing mode. Maybe during some of the cinematics itself. I have looked on the webs, and no one seems to have a solution. So I am asking the Sins community see if anyone have a suggestion on what to do.
I have a NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M on and XP Pro x86.
Shit...
I traced this one down and fixed it a while back, but I've forgotten what I did. Will look into it and get back to you.
Edit: I uninstalled it so I can't go digging through my settings.
I did however look into the problem again, three things to do. Disable hardware sound, switch to 16 bit, and lower the detail settings. All or a combination of them are required, it's a fubar game that used a screwy engine with subpar support by later Nvidia cards and drivers. You may have to zero out the detail, but I'd go notch by notch to begin with, you probably have the sound glitch as well from your description.
Do you still play armada? a bunch of us old vets started playing it agian and trying to rebulid aportion of the old community.
you can find details etc on:
http://starmada.freeforums.org/
also did that fix work that you mentioned at the bottom? i would very much like to know so i can add it to my forums tech support.
I was looking arodun and foun that newer nvidia cards stopped supporting tnl which armada needed best thing i found so far was 3d anaylize.
This guy has left the forums a while ago.
Yes, but it's driver/card specific. My next system didn't need it and had other issues.
yea i know its a nightmare to fix, other issues are the easy ones to resolve. My main problem and the biggest one is Nvidia seems to be the series 7 and series 8 that have the biggest issues. I play with an ati runs golden on my machine no problems what so ever even on windows 7. Still i want to get a fix asap for the other gamers don't wanna turn people away just because they wanted a Nvidia card over an ati.
It was series 4 that first a crap on itself. I used that to fix it back in 2003 with a ti4600.
Have you considered using the http://www.fleetops.net/ mod? It has a number of graphic improvements over Armada and there's there's an active community.
