I thought id post something positive about the game as well as a little feedback. I just bought the game 2 days ago.
I'll start with the feedback:
Firstly, as i started playing my first round in single player tournament, I found the item selection was a little overwhelming (and still slightly do) only because theres just so many things to take into consideration. (energy, health, strength stats etc and not to mention the cost). But i guess this comes with time.
Skill description (mainly regarding TB). I think some skills need to be a bit more descriptive. Such as "fire aura" and "Ice aura" (dont recall their proper names but i think ull no wat im talking about). As a new player, I had no idea they were TB state specific (fire state, ice state) and whether they were passive or not, or whether it had some effect on nearby allies. These may seem very obvious, but these are the things i was asking myself as I was learning TB. But this isnt a big issue anyway, and can easily be improved.
Buying citadel upgrades. In hard mode, i rarely found myself buying citadel upgrades because of such extreme costs for BOTH personal items and citadel upgrades. But i think many would argue this point anyway. Just thought id mention it.
Beginning of a round. it might just be me, but im only able to buy 2 equips which brings me down to zero gold and unable to buy potions (consumables are a bit too high i think, 50 gold less?). Maybe my strategy is bad?
Oak power/defense. WOW. whenever im vsing him he overpowers me in both aspects of strength and defense. End result = me dying. (even when im higher level than him). He's really the only one i have an issue with.
Other than that, this game is HIGHLY addictive! Yesterday i played nearly 6 hours straight. Havent done that in a long time with a game. I havent played online though coz ive only heard only bad things about the new patch so im waiting for the next. Just so u get an idea of how i play TB:EQUIPS- Hauberk -> Godplate (when i get enough money)- Plenor + Vinling + [most expensive helm] (for all the energy regen = something like 75+ e/ps) - Gauntlets of Brutality- my persistent item i use is one the lessens cooldowns by 20% (which i like lol especially when ive got all 3 helms).
lol this post ended up being bigger than i intended it to be. Gimme advise on where u think im going wrong with equips.
ADDED (more feedback):AI invicibility. I think this ones a bit of a concern tbh. Interesting story, if only i could replay it and record.Scenario - It was me (TB) and my cousin (Rook) vs Difficulty Hard AI, Erebus and Regulus (Ive done 2v2 games by myself vsing hard AI before and have won every single time). We did 2 games with all the same characters apart from Erebus, both rounds lasting for an hour and a half. We lost the first round and won the second round (to much of my surprise still).
To cut the hour and a half story short we found in both games, Regulus becoming rapidly stronger (he reached level 20 when i was lvl 15), eventually getting to the point where his movement was 3 times faster than us (almost impossible to catch him with rain of ice even if u targetted ahead of his path), attack rate was at intevals of prob around .4 of a second doing 270 dmg each hit and very VERY high evasion rate. This is what really got me, we bought out the additional minions (up to the giants), it was me and regulus at our base (obviously they were winning at this point), i was standing at health crystal occupying regulus, him going psycho on me (not to mention i was still on a gradual loss of health even at crystal), while my cousin went and was slowly taking out their base. I think at this point there were 3 waves of minions on him as well as myself (i was ice based this round and previous round was fire) and we could not get his health down lower than 90%. All i saw half the time was "EVADE!". This was pretty much the same with Erebus but Erebus was a possible kill IF you could ever get that last hit to kill him, but his super movement speed didnt allow us to kill him. Anyway, the game continues like this for the next 30 mins or wateva, we only won because the AI werent intelligent enough to attack my cousin that capped the minion portal flag right next to their citadel. Dont get me wrong, there was quite a celebration after this match lol BUT...the point im trying to get to, IMO, a player (in this case AI even if its on hard or nightmare) should never be able to get to the point where they become invincible to a whole army as well as 2 demigods. The game is supposed to be..."Tactics/ Teamwork/ Balance = Victory" not "Invincibility = Victory"
BTW, we were winning at the start, i dunno where they got there gold and exp so quickly...
oh, and UB was exactly the same as regulus in a previous game, only more powerful. he killed me everytime even when i was at health crystal. He's attack rate and dmg was double of the heal rate and heal power of crystal.
One quick tip: Try to go for only Plenor and Vlemish. Hungarling isn't usually much of an added benefit in my experience. Vlemish is freaking amazing. Also, consider using Serpent's Blade as your favor item and ditching all (yes, all) of your headgear.
One more: Regarding starting equipment, yeah... generally people buy no equips and only consumables early on or they pick up banded (Some people say that scalemail makes more sense because it is more useful later in the game, but... to each his own) armor and fewer consumables. From what I've seen, those are the two most common approaches. Try to minimize your visits to the shop, too. The longer you stay in your lane, the more XP you soak up.
This comes with time. Get used to playing the game first. Single player is nothing.
A valid issue.
Part of the stratagy goes into deciding whether to get citadel upgrades or equipment, and when to get them. You can't have everything.
You shouldn't be buying out the store when you start out anyway. I only buy one or two items when I start, most people do.
Suck less, get better. Can't do much about that. Oak is a very powerful demigod, one of, if not the best in the game, but he's not as obscenely powerful as you make him sound.
Godplate is way too expensive for what it gives. TB doesn't need gauntlets since he gets most of his damage out of his skills. Plenor and Vinling are a waste.
I recommend Scale Male, Scale Helm, Vlemish helm and Unbreakable boots. They buff mana and survivability, they're cheap, and they're very effective for their cost. Much more efficient then the money whoring setup you have now. However, your choice of 20% shorter cooldown item is great for TB.
thx alot guys on feedbacking ME lol. i do try see things from both sides also. About Oak being overpowered is prob me lacking a certain tactic to take him out anyway. just saying that me resulting in death is evident in many of my games.
and yeh ... i prob do focus alot more on my items than wat i should be. but thx to both of you for clarifying these things up.
but you know what, when I hear certain items are a waste in a game, then they have no place in a game since they are redundant. All items in game should have a purpose. Hopefully you know where im coming from before anyone says anything lol.
The thing about Oak is that he's awesome later in the game if you let him get a good start, but pretty weak early game. Harass him as much as possible and you shouldn't have to worry too much. This goes for any DG really, but Oak especially.
As for dying a lot, remember that TB is very squishy and will go down quickly if a melee character like UB or Oak can get in close. Try to keep your distance.
If you've played City of Heroes, TB and Reg are "Blasters"; if you've played WoW, then consider them "Mages". Melee = death usually.
Also, when you start online, you may be inclinde to fight to the death, and run in "bravely", but in this game, every time you die, you stengthen the enemy, so not getting killed is one of the top priorities. It can be very counter intuative if you've played other games where the same behavior is a good strategy.
lol ... sounds like u thought i said i die 24/7. but thats not the case (i think anyway due to only playing single player)... im actually not dying as much as i thought i would. The only thing i really hate about TB is his normal attack range. its like oaks melee distance lol. Hope to get into multiplayer soon. BTW, is the patch effecting everyone? or is it just the odd few?coz id like to get to play online ... like now!
id like to consider myself a good surviving TB judging by all the games ive played since i got the game.
should i get the 1.01 patch or wait for the next one? to play online
You should get the patch and try it out. For me matchmaking is kind of hit and miss right now. Most of the time it takes less than 5 minutes to find a match, sometimes it takes almost 10, and sometimes I get an error and have to start over again.
ok thx ... i think i will try it ...since its diff for everybody
