I am interested in possibly buying this game. I am a huge fan of RTS games, here are some RTS games that I have played: StarCraft (Brood War), Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (The Frozen Throne), Total Annihilation (Core Contingency & Battle Tactics), Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, Supreme Commander (Forged Alliance), Star Wars: Force Commander, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (Clone Campaigns), Star Trek: Armada, Star Trek: Armada II, Shogun: Total War, Dominion: Storm Over Gift 3, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War (Winter Assault & Dark Crusade), Star Trek: New Worlds, Age of Empires (Rise of Rome), Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, Age of Sail, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (Firestorm), Command & Conquer: Red Alert II (Yuri's Revenge), Command & Conquer: Sole Survivor, Shattered Galaxy, and various others. I am a huge fan of Blizzard Entertainment and it's products. I also run a relatively large message board called the "SS Free" ( http://s1.zetaboards.com/strikesback5/index/ ), which is for discussing Blizzard Entertainment, Reenactor Entertainment, Flagship Studios, Runic Games, and Hatton Vending. I like Battle.net a lot and I prefer games with a Battle.net-like multiplayer (however a non-Battle.net multiplayer service might be satisfactory). I also like RTS games with Use Map Settings game modes (however a game without UMS might be satisfactory). So, could you please help me decide if I should get this game or not (if at all possible, please back up your decision with reason). Thank you for your time.
Yes, I think this is a great game for you if you like the games you mentioned.
If you are not in a rush I know they are also working on making a demo available.
The good news: it's a great game concept and really well executed game design. Well balanced, strategic, and full of tactical subtlety.
The bad news: this *ain't* battle.net. Some people are facing major problems getting multiplayer games to work reliably. Read some of the Developer Journals to follow the detective work they've been going through to try and find the problems. They claim to have made progress since the launch, and some reports support this claim, while others (like me) have seen things get progressively worse. If you are one of the players for whom things are working, and are able to connect regularly and reliably to others who are working, then you should have a pretty good time. Good luck.
If you go to the home page there should be 2 videos on the right hand side that you can watch. Watch the bottom video which is Mike Marr's Tutorial. It should help you make a decision, if you're interested in seeing a bit more on how the game is played.
My personal recommendation is heck yah give it a shot, I'm sure you'll like it. Good luck and Have Fun.
Just a warning, Demigod is loads of fun, but it isn't your average RTS. If you like both RTS style games and RPG's (think, controlling only a hero from Warcraft III), then this, good sir, is your game. Otherwise, I'd advise you look elsewhere.
Ya, come to think of it, I'm not sure I'd even be willing to buy another game by Gas Powered Games. I mean really, with Supreme Commander's GPGnet issues (and GPG not even providing tech support)...
Quoting RegnorVex. I have to agree with this; and this was what I told my brother when we were discussing Demigod - as I could not connect online, I told my brother basically "buy at your own risk".
Didn't you post almost exactly the same thing in the Sins forums? (Sub Sins for DG of course)...
Like pseudomelon said, if you like playing both RTS's and RPG's, then you will enjoy this game. You could probably best compare it to an extremely fast paced Diablo 2 with RTS elements.
There are some connectivity problems, but they have fixed most of them. Stardock is in charge of the multiplayer connectivity and if you don't know their reputation, they will do everything in their power to make things work well. It might take a few patches, but it will get to a near perfect level.
GPG only created the game and they did a great job at it. Yea GPGnet is pretty bad but compared to other new multiplayer systems, it's pretty good.
If you wait for the demo to come out you'll be able to test out your connectivity with the game. From what I hear the demo will be 2-4 demigods and 1-2 maps online only.
this game is like psue said
you control a hero as in one dude not intire armys
it is a rps as i call it a role playing stratergy
you have to play with your team mates and work together to defeat the enermy bases of all stratergy team games u also use skills in your skill tree buy items for u and your citadel
so if u like mmos aswell as stratergys ull love this game
this is spam. clearly keyword cramming spam to get some link juice to his forums. Too bad he failed at making the link
What?
But I'm going to reserve judgement on this one. I'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt.
Edit: removed URL
lol, obviously spam
Look at his other posts

so dude, go self promote somewhere else please.
And as I stated, he has posted something almost identical in a Sins thread!!! And it isn't in a cross-linked section, unlike off-topic etc...
You guys realize that every time you repeated his links you added to his link juice and thus confirmed that he chose the right tactic!
