perhapst someone still knows something about the bug.
i heared of it yesterday in irc, but only got to know that it must be something with the engine. it was a bug from the GPG game supcome which engine is also used for demigod. he said something about console which wouldnt work in demigod, but didnt know the command. so perhapst anybody knows something and could help me figure it out.
if some official knows something are welcome ² post too
thanks for your help
If your PC is overheating it suggests the cooling on the machine is insufficient.
The engine uses quite a lot of power, so if you have substandard cooling in your computer, it will overheat. It's not a bug in the engine. (Try using other intensive apps.) If it happens to you, take a look into getting a better CPU/GPU cooler.
mh i tryed a lot of games like cyrsis and stuff never had problems with cooling. sry guy but i u cant programm a GUI that works right it might be better u stop programming games. its not the problem that my notebook heats up when im playing, my main problem is that it heats up before gaming. how can a menu with 6 choices can overheat my pc? :/
failed
edit: it occurs that if im playing demigod per gameranger that system wont heat up that much! i found that out in the lobby the temperature stays stabile. even ingame it wont grow that much.
Download OCCT http://downloads.guru3d.com/OCCT-(OverClock-Checking-Tool)-3.0.0-download-1880.html run the power supply test and when your computer starts on fire you can either agree that your pc is not properly cooled or you can continue blaming Supcom/Demigod. Have a fire extinguisher nearby, sounds like you'll need it.
If you are afraid then just run the linpack test included with OCCT, that'll be more like well done rather than extra crispy. Btw, my 2.83ghz quadcore runs at 4.25ghz and can do both tests rather handily. Goodluck.
my cpu got about to 60° after some time of testing my gpu settles at about 75° which means its too hot. but its not that hot as i goes with DG.
as u said this test will set my system on fire. but how it goes that only the demigod gui makes me able to cook some eggs on my pc?
as my orginal posting said, i had some good infos about a known bug. if u have some infos about it please let me know.
if u want me to say demigod on all low graphic needs more power than cyrsis & co on high graph than...dont post...thanks
60 for the CPU isn't that hot. My current one idles around 55C (Core2 Duo E8400 @ 3GHz).
As for your graphic card, it really depends on the maker and model. The latest ATI cards get around 85-90C when in heavy use and they do just fine.
There might indeed be a problem with the engine in that it always draw the full GPU power even when "idle" (although I haven't seen that behavior myself), but if it makes CPU and GPU run dangerously high in temperature, this might show a problem with your PC cooling too. Maybe you can add a specific profile on your graphic card control panel for Demigod and underclock the GPU/CPU slighlty. If you can already run Crysis at high settings, you aren't going to take that much of a hit graphic-wise anyway.
What kind of graphic`s card are you using? I have a 8800GT. When Demigod was first released it had the fan on my card running full tilt the whole time. I mentioned this in one of the developer threads. The recent patch`s seem to have improved this. I also tested a large Supcom battle and it didn`t have the card running anywhere near as hot. Demigod had my GT running 100-110C. It is the only game to do this.
I did some looking around and apparently it is not uncommon for the 8 series of cards to get to 115C. A GPU running at 75C should not be a problem. If you`re playing Demigod and you start seeing graphical artifacts and errors, That`s when the card is having problems.
EDIT: I just noticed the OP stated the issue starts at the menu screen, The above only happens in game. These temps all come from a desktop system.
Actually 60C CPU is bad if its for idle. Under load? Meh a lil high for my standards but with a stock heatsync on the CPU ... i could see it happen. 60C wouldn't be to bad for load.
I have a Quad-Core Q9400 and i idle ~42C and under load ~47-49 (Highest ive ever seen so far = 51C but my PC room was also scorching ... after turnin on my lil window air conditoner it dropped back down to the usual 47-49 under load). I suggest upgrading your heatsync if your CPU is getting to hot firegoesm0w.
My current heatsync is : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118223 (IF it fits your mobo/processor. Idk what you have so just suggesting something i KNOW is good)
w/ also the thermal paste to ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007 ).
Just because the 8 series cards have been "known" to get to 115C doesn't make that a "good" thing. Ever think about that? 115C = 239F. Thats um ... perty hot for your video card to be. The 8 series has a flaw that not many people have ever realized (but i have) because i have a 8800GTS myself.
The problem with the 8 series is the fan doesn't turn itself up. Plain and simple. The fan on the heatsync of it sits at one speed (mine chose 31% on start) and STAYS there NO MATTER HOW HOT THE CARD GETS. Retarded huh? Would think Nvidia would of caught this ? pfft na of course not!
So many people w/ the 8 series don't know this so 31% fan speed (or somewhere near that) while playing high graphics game = HEAT. To fix this simple little issue (if you have it) DL the program below and follow my guide to fix your overheating issue! If you have a 8 series card. Below i show you have to set it so your video card won't melt itself!Note: No pics for some of the first steps (i hope you can figure why i wouldn't do pics of it .. its self-explanitory .)
1) DL Rivatuner from here ( http://downloads.guru3d.com/RivaTuner-v2.24-download-163.html ).
2) Install Rivatuner then run it (Note: Rivatuner will build a database thing on first run. It might take awhile depending on system but do not worry it is normal and its ONLY on the FIRST time you run it).3) After it is open click on the lil arrow you see below. After installing rivatuner this is what you will see when you first open it.1)
2) Next click on the "System Settings" (The button the looks sorta like a graphics card. 1st one all the way on the left right near the arrow you clicked)
3) Next you will see this screen. Click on "Fans"
4) In the "Fans" tab you will see something similiar to this screen... at the top right if it is on "auto control" (like above) click and switch to "direct control" and hit "apply" at the bottom right.5) Now it will look like this (once it is on "direct control") Next ...
6) Drag the "performance 3d" bar over to about 90% then hit "apply" at the bottom right (you should hear your vid card fan speed up .. its ok its normal and all the other bars should move up to ... rly it doesn't matter which one you move it all controls the same fan LoL).7) Now where it says "Apply fan settings at Windows Startup settings" --- Tick the box (check it) and if the save button lights up after you enable it hit the save button .... then the "apply" at the bottom right and then "ok" and close Rivatuner.
Now your done! "Breaking it down" : I am putting this here to break this guide down really fast for what you just did. You installed Rivatuner to turn your video card up for you. Since you saved the settings and set them to start at windows startup ... Everytime your PC boots [i]Rivatuner will AUTOMATICALLY turn your video card fan speed up on boot up so you never have to![i] (As long as you followed this guide correctly).
(Edit for spelling errorz)Hope this helps. And as always ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-E8UlrF_9o
In my above post, When I said the fan was running full tilt. I meant at 100%. The temp range I mentioned only occurs while playing Demigod, Its not a common occurance. Why use rivatuner to adjust fan speed? I can adjust it through the device setteings tab in the nvidia control panel. If you`ve downloaded the nvidia system tool application as well though.
Because personally i don't like using the method. Also another reason is because it went away on mine and wont come back.
3rd ... rivatuner u do that ONE time and everytime u boot up .. it does ur fan speed for you. So i did that once and uh never worry about it again. 1time setup = ftw?
Also if you have the fan at 100% and run demigod at 100-110C you have a cooling issue imo. Your case obviously has no way to cool down because that simply shouldn't happen in a well ventd case.
Or unless your room is scorching hot to so it cant really get cool air. Either/or is bad.
Agreed. Either method will work. I haven`t had a problem with the fan resetting using the nvidia control.
I don`t have temp issue`s playing games or doing anything else with my PC. The card only runs like this playing Demigod.
In the past I have had problems like you described. The fan wouldn`t adjust itself. It would run at 100% while on the internet, Or run at 50% while playing Crysis.
I have nvidia componets on my motherboard, I found updating those components drivers solved the fan issue. The fan runs according to temp now.
EDIT: I just finished a 2v2 pantheon game, 1280x1024, Graphics, Fidelity set to high. No AA, Shadows or Vsync. Temp was 101C. Setting graphic options to med or low doesn`t make a difference.
This is the DX info, Its a BFG card. I thought it might be pertenent.

Then something is still messed up if you play Demigod and it just shoots up... just doesn't make sense to do that.Updating the componets didn't really help me so you got a break on that i guess. Again though idc cuz rivatuner takes care of it.And the guide i posted will fix majority of peoples issues because most people wouldn't even think to try this... or even think of this issue in general.
Agreed, It`s a great step by step guide.
Ty .
I r just curious about your issue. Later tonight ima research and see if i can figure it out .
its was about 60 with the OCC programm.
i will try the software because if have a nvidea 8800 gt, i hope it will help. cant see your pictures through but thanks alot for the guide.
edit: cant figure step 1+2 in the programm because i cant see the pics. the youtube vid doesnt help me either because it says its not available for my country :/
The pics will load soon. Just check again ... my webserver company fooked up my server
i can see the pics now. but the tab "fan" does not apear at my rivatuner. ive downloaded the version 2.24 which says me when i pop up, that i need to update rivatuner because it wouldnt work well with my graphic card driver. maybe that is the problem. but ive updatet my drivers lately and cant find a newer version auf rivatuner.
if u know how to show the tab "fans" i would be pleased. ive got nvidea 8800 gt if this might help.
thanks anyway!
