THe game has been out 6 weeks? about, maybe 5. In that time stardock has done a great job keeping an open line of communication and really striving to fix everything within their power. I don't think there is many here who won't applaude their actions.
But in reading a post by frog boy the other night, i noticed that on several issues players brought up he commented, saying such issues were gas powered game issues, and out of their control.
Which makes me wonder, we know exactly what stardock has been doing for the last 5-6 weeks, but 5-6 weeks out, and hardly a word, it seems from gas powered. One patch, yet star dock has done probalby 10? (guessing)
And every time my friends and i try to play, it takes about 3 tries to get a 3v3 or 4v4 going because one of us crashes.
Just saying, we know stardock has been working hard, but what the hell has gas powered been doing? Sure seems like stardock is more concerned about the game than gaspowered.
Gas Powered Games is working very hard on not just v1.01 which is in final testing but also v1.1.
I agree. I would like some information and comments from GPG.
Edit:
Can we get updates from them occasionally. Any information helps.
Well check Forged Alliance patch support. It sux and its GpG.
But its supposed to be THQ fault.. But I no expert.
I just hope the "skill not working" get fixed.
We do get info indirectly from them occasionally. If you're reading Frogboy's journals, you'll see him mention things that GPG are working on here and their. The difference, though, is that Stardock is a publisher and is directly in charge of the public communications for both companies in regards to Demigod.
Besides if GPG was reading all our posts AND replying to a bunch of them along with posting status updates, they'd lose a lot of patch time.
good to know, and maybe it's comparing apples and oranges, but it sure seems like stardock has done a hell of a lot more in 6 weeks than gas powered. The fact that as far as i've read (and i could be wrong) the only talk i hear about new demi gods is coming from you guys at stardock, the publisher.
Maybe they are just not vocal (like most game companies, it seems) but from where im sitting (and probably most consumers of demigod) we see stardock putting in 110% and gas powered twiddling their thumbs.
Game crashing bugs
changes that make the game more playable for low end systems
seem like what i've heard about coming down the pipeline, yet shouldn't these have been implemented before launch? Well that's in the past, but 6 weeks out, it seems like these issues should have been patched 5 weeks ago, and from there moving forward, especially if they weren't consumed by connectivity issues, because stardock was taking care of that.
Good point, yet frog boy kept a near daily journal for the last 6 weeks and patched the game a dozen times. Just playing devil's advocate.
Frogboy doesn't write any code. It's Frogboy's job to be President of Stardock, not do any developing. He's not really doing anything else, it's pretty much his job to do this. GPG developers on the other hand.
Need to fix the skill not working bug.
Apparently someone made a mod that fixes the skill not working bug. Someone from GPG posted on it as well you can see the thread here.
Frogboy does write code. He is quite the awesome A.I. coder and project lead (see the upcoming Elemental as well as the Galactic Civilisations series). However I do not know what code if any he has specifically written for Demigod.
I am glad to hear GPG is working hard on a couple patches because as it stands this game is in shambles. Its fun, but so much is keeping it down its actually quite embaressing. I love Supreme Commander with FA and Sins is the best so I know these companies have it in them to make an extremely enjoyable and polished game so here is to hoping hard work and little bit of time will bring out the greatness in this game.
@MooglesRcute
As I sit here, I can look at my second monitor and see IM chatter between Stardock and GPG about Demigod. Both camps are actively working on making the game experience better.
We don’t post a lot of technical detail on the forum for a few reasons:
1. Stardock is already doing a great job of keeping you informed.
2. The changes we make to the game are difficult to discuss out of context. We would need to discuss each change at great length in order to let people really make sense of what we’re doing. We would prefer to spend that time working directly on the game.
GPG has made many improvements to the game since the day 0 update. We’ve been busy, and we tend to stay quiet when we’re busy. We communicate all of these changes to Stardock and they communicate them to you all, along with anything else they want to update you about.
Some of the changes we’ve been working on lately are visible but many of the changes are “behind the scenes.” Meaning, they are engine changes that don’t jump out at you when you play the game, but are ultimately important for reliability or performance reasons.
robotfrog, wow.
I stand corrected. Thanks for placating my worries, anxious to see this game grow, because i feel like it has a real good team behind it.
Thanks
You have to keep this in mind: This is Stardock's forum. Not GPG's.
Any visits they pay us should be celebrated, not expected.
Thanks for the update, Mr. shiny metallic amphibian. +1
Edit: oh.. and to add to the list of examples of GPG coming into the forums and working with the community to get problems solved, see this thread: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348232/page/3/#2176055
best update/fix (for me anyway) from GPG so far has been the performance improvement to Sound FX and Music in the game. my system used to not handle it very well but now it works fine. great job on that. thank you. game runs faster and smoother and the sound is better and doesn't hiccup or crackle anymore.
I can second this, vast improvements in sound acceleration done on GPG part. Keep up the good work.
